All right, the first person to tell me the name of this object (or something close enough), book, and author will receive 2000 coins and some frubals for me. I will not tell you if your guess is partially correct or completely incorrect. I will simply say that it's wrong.

Here's the item:

It's a ring that was found in a chasm after a duel earthquake thunderstorm combo. Its wearer placed the ring on his finger, and after turning part of the ring's ornamentation toward himself, he became invisible. By turning it again, he became visible again. In the end, this man became guilty of regicide.

This isn't from the Lord of the Rings, so we might as well put that away. It's a much, much older story ;). So the first person to correctly identify the object, give me the book the story is contained in, and the author of the book gets 2000 coins and some frubals :woohoo:

Lightkeeper got that one...and fast :D. I happen to love the Republic so I chose it for this.

Give us a easier one,:149: something that us younger folk would know.:D

I'll think of one, but I'm only 26. I'm one of the younger folk when we consider how long we live. I believe it was Cicero that pointed out youth lasts till 30 ;).

I'll think of another question, but I can promise you that the answer won't be anything younger than 200 years and probably much older. I will post easier ones after this one. You have to earn my last 2000 coins after all.

OK, here's the next one, and boy is this one a doozie. I'll give out another 2000 coins to the first person to get this. You should be able to find it with Google if you don't know it. It's a pretty obscure piece of mythology.

This man entranced a grasshopper while singing a dirge to a dead snake. I want the name of the snake and the man. We don't need to referance a book for it.

After this one it gets easier. I don't want to give away 2000 coins for nothing though, and I'll be dirt poor again :).

Athanasius and Ambrose?? i'll keep looking

Nope. It's a Greek myth. You can find the information in a Church Father who wrote a treatise against the mystery religions.

My lips are hereafter sealed. I have let too much escape on how to find it already :p
