Freedom Philosophy

So, for an extra credit assignment, I am to watch a movie that in some way connects with freedom, and then write a 2000 word paper on how it relates to freedom. Anyone know a good movie or two that would be fun to write a paper on? I would be up for any and all help :) danke!

Perhaps.... I'll have to think about it. That would be interesting, but I won't want do write about something that I'm sure tons of other people will also :(

This might be vaguely predictable coming from me, but how about The Matrix trilogy of films? The humans in the last bastion of mankind (Zion) are struggling to free the minds of 99.9% of humanity trapped in a simulated reality (the Matrix) by sentient Machines who use their bodies for food. It's the ultimate struggle for Man to free his kind from the Machines and liberate those trapped in an illusory System of control!

In the end...well, I won't spoil it (if you haven't seen it) but "Peace" and compromise are how conflicts are often resolved in the modern real world, so that might make a nice adendum for your essay.

Just a suggestion, check out the movies and their themes. It's all about freedom and its very philosophical. :)

These are all great suggestions! :) Thank you so much guys. Frubals when I can.

Saw kind of seems like an interesting concept of freedom. Is anyone free if they're coerced?

If you want something obscure, but possibly very powerful for your topic, see if you can find a horror movie called The Cube.
