For all you science believers out there: Do you think in a gazillion years another planet will evolve life like the earth did? I think the chances of that happening are almost certain given the universe has no time limit. I wonder if humans would evolve similarly. hmm... Or do you think this is a one time fluke never to repeat itself.

I think there are a lot of life forms out there and that it is not particularly unique. The biggest issue is obviously travelling through space. Also, there is the question of whether it is intelligent.

Also, there could have been and already gone extinct intelligent life forms out there.

We are the only intelligent life form on Earth with the ability to travel in space and we are extremely young in comparison to the age of the universe or even Earth, and we are already ruining our planet and could potentially go extinct at any moment, should we get hit by something from space. We have no backup plan (no other planet to go to) or real defence against it.

Is it likely that an asteroid will impact Earth in the near future?
While no known asteroid larger than 140 meters in size has a significant chance to hit Earth for the next 100 years, only about 40 percent of those asteroids have been found to date.

Would it be possible to shoot down an asteroid that is about to impact Earth?
An asteroid on a trajectory to impact Earth could not be shot down in the last few minutes or even hours before impact. No known weapon system could stop the mass because of the velocity at which it travels – an average of 12 miles per second.

Whether such life forms would look like humans is difficult to say, but I do think that such creatures if they should be able to space travel would need some of the same capabilities as humans, such as being able to construct things, so they would need some sort of way to grab stuff and use tools. And not really sure what design would be better for that than a hand.

Personally I don't believe in exta-terestrial life. Also I believe the earth recycles every 80 yrs or so.

Anyone who drives a car, has a refrigerator, a cellphone or a TV has to believe in science because they're using the products of science - the word 'belief' has no meaning.
... or uses the internet to argue that science is not as good as god!

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
No time limit, and an infinite amount of real estate, I think, it will happen again and again. Intelligent life would be far less frequent. Democracy would be even further less frequent.

In this universe I would bet on humanity being a one time occurrence. Although the latent potential for humanity to exist would always be a part of existence.

However no one can assume that in infinity that everything is made of the same laws, forces and elements.

For all you science believers

Eh? You used you computer including quantum mechanics to high intensity, high speed laser switching to post that message. Do you believe in science?

Do you think in a gazillion years another planet will evolve life like the earth did?

Given the size if the universe and what appears to be the number of habitable (to some extent) planets out of there I'd be very surprised if life had not already developed on other planets.

Just a note on gazillion... Heat death of the universe will occure long before that.

I think the chances of that happening are almost certain given the universe has no time limit

Its been around for roughly 13.7 billion years and will likely last another 15 to 100 trillion years. Although for all intents and purposes our local cluster will be visually cut off from the rest of the universe long before that.
It has a time limit albeit a very long one.

I wonder if humans would evolve similarly. hmm..

Doubtful. Look at our own planet, same environment has produced millons of different species and hundreds millions more species are extinct. Humans, on one planet, say a one on 100 million chance given our specific environment On other planets with different environments???

Or do you think this is a one time fluke never to repeat itself.

My belief is life is fairly abundant in the universe. The type of life, i have no idea

For all you science believers out there ...
I stopped reading here.

Science is not a belief. It is a system of knowledge (not belief) based on objective evidence.
To be fair, "For all you science believers" might well be intend to mean "for all you who esteem science as 'a system of knowledge (not belief) based on objective evidence.'"

At the very least, the OP should be credited with recognizing that posing its question to those who dismiss science would be worthless. :)

Fair enough.

You mean like complex life in great variety? If so yes, I reckon there's a very good chance.

If by "like earth" you mean has rabbits and frogs and E.coli then no.

It's hard to know how to even start guessing.

I doubt that humans would evolve; we're the product of a lineage billions of years old with an unimaginable number of possibilities for things to have gone a different way.

The universe might have a time limit, btw.
