Listening to a lot of prog rock and drum'n'bass means a lot of the files in my library lead into each other (before you start clicking reply thinking "use a joiner silly" read on).

I've used many a joiner, but not all the tracks in these albums need (or should be) joined and most of these converters seem to incredibly lower the quality of the MP3's in the area of 360 degree sound, mixing and drum tone.

This makes ChrisP cranky... (where's No*s when ya need him :p)

Ideally, the software needed here is a CD importer > MP3 where the tracks can be selected (i.e import tracks 2&3 as one track please mr elite software dood).

Does such a beast exist? Please say it's so! 4000 coins to the first person to point me in the right direction :D

I know when I joined a bunch of small AVI files for a tornado DVD, I noticed that there was a default 5 second gap between the files. (I used NTI at the time.) Clicking on the selected list of filenames area brought up a few options, one of which was Leadtime. It was a default setting that could be changed from 5 to 0
I selected 0, for no lead time and the 50 or so separate AVI's blended relatively seemlessly.

The DVD turned out pretty good actually
I downloaded a lot of the files from this location for any severe weather buffs.

I doubt it's what you are looking for, but I import the lot into sound forge and then clip out the gaps......................

If you do find what you want, let me know, will you?

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

There's a party in the ChrisP House tonight!!!

It's freeware... and I don't mean limited COMPLETELY FREE!! Somebody else thought all the other extractors were bollocks, and decided to make one with super elite quality options as well. Ok so it's made by a geek for sound geeks, but if ya need a hand operating it just gizzus a PM....

Copy Range with a CD inserted should do the trick, and it makes the whole CD into one wave/mp3/alottacodecs... No word yet on whether selecting just certain tracks is possible.

There are others.. but this one looks the best and it's completely free.. just don't go decompiling it! you'll make an enemy of "Andre Wiethoff - Hi I'm a student of computer science and mathematics here at the University of Dortmund"

Praise be to Andre!
