Gay, Trans, Race, Books, etc. Are this issues only an American/USA problem are do these problems exist in other countries as well.
Before you ask "what problem", there are many threads here about issues and issues in the news almost daily about these things
To be completely honest.
I remember hearing about such controversy in my country (Australia) back in the 90s -2000s but it has seemingly gone away by now.
Mind you, we have our own unique issues when it comes to race relations specifically.
It did come up a bit just after 9/11. With tensions kind of boiling over. But that too has seemingly died down since.
I occasionally hear of debates about whether certain topics are age appropriate or could they be made appropriate.
And I certainly won’t pretend there aren’t a bunch of issues in my country pertaining to racism, homophobia, sexism etc
But it seems to be kept among adults for the most part.
With people seemingly okay with kids learning about these issues from books that would probably be controversial in current US politics. Generally speaking of course.
There are always going to be complaints but I haven’t really seen them reach the stage of actually getting rid of books in school libraries. Not recently anyway
