Gaza officials warn of dire consequences of Egyptian flooding of smuggling tunnels

One of the ways you can identify people who are not actually concerned about Arab Palestinians but rather are only interested in demonizing Israel is that they do not bother to post - or even read - articles concerning how the actions of Arabs (either the Arab Palestinians themselves or their fellow Arabs) adversely affects the Arab Palestinians.

Gaza officials warn of dire consequences of Egyptian flooding of smuggling tunnels

Palestinian officials in Gaza say that the flooding of the smuggling tunnels by Egypt has done more damage to the densely populated Palestinian enclave than Israeli bombings over the past two decades.

Egypt has for months been pumping salt water from the nearby Mediterranean into the tunnels to prevent weapons smuggling to Islamist insurgents in Egypt's Sinai desert who have been attacking Egyptian troops and police.

A Reuters report Wednesday cited Palestinian officials as saying also that the flooding is contaminating the wells that supply water to residents of the southern Strip.

"One cubic meter of sea water pollutes 40 cubic meters of underground water," said Tamer al-Sleibi, water department director in the Palestinian Environment Quality Authority in Gaza.

Egypt's campaign, he said, could weaken the foundations of homes already on shaky ground due to tunnel-building and make land unfit for agriculture. There is also a health risk as the water turns stagnant, allowing mosquitoes and other disease carriers to breed, he told Reuters.

Health ministry says gunfire from patrol near Strip’s maritime border with Egypt also leaves one wounded fisherman — Gaza official

An Egyptian naval patrol shot and killed a Palestinian fisherman and wounded another Thursday off the coast near the border between Gaza and Egypt, a spokesman for the Gaza health ministry spokesman in Gaza said.

The victim was identified as Faris Meqdad, 18, ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said.

Egyptian forces have previously opened fire on Gazans they accused of crossing the maritime border between Egypt and the Palestinian enclave.

There are lots more, but the Israel bashers studiously ignore them.

Those of us who deeply, deeply wish both sides could lose equally don't ignore this manner of report.

I remain firm in my opinion that the only way to achieve lasting peace involves turning Israel-Palestine into a no-man's land. Both sides have clearly shown they're too immature to handle this "diplomacy" and "statehood" thing.

Nietzsche - At least you chose a fitting non de plume
What's the actual Nietzsche have to do with my belief that some portions of the world should've remained colonies? Ottomans, British, French, China, Japan, I don't give a single ****, just anyone but the people who live there now. A place that is supposedly the most holy stretch of worthless desert on earth is routinely watered with the blood of YHWH's insolent, bickering children.

Rejected objective truth & morality? Yes. But only in the pursuit of finding ones' own morality. Nihilism is meant to be a half-way point, not the result.

As far as nationalism goes...

You've never read anything by him, have you? He was not remotely a Nationalist. He wrote in letters reams and reams about how terrible an idea "nationalism" is. Something I agree with very much. Nationalism is a curse & poison amongst the world.

Now, his sister? Yes. She was a loathsome, nationalist **** who got involved with the Volkische movement, and by extension what would become the NSDAP. But she also horribly, horribly butchered his work to support her petty hatreds.

Nietzsche looked upon nationalism with utter contempt and disgust.
