On Catholic mysticism one of my favourite books is one published in 1911 by an Anglo-Catholic lady called Evelyn Underhill. Its a true spiritual classic: & you can read it online

Mysticism Index

If you want to read it then please read Part 2 "The Mystic Way" first rather than Part 1, which is quite dense for a rookie :D

She quotes copiously from a huge variety of Catholic mystics from the Middle Ages, as well as to a lesser extent Protestant mystics & Sufis.

Isn't there a "Mysticism For Complete Morons" or something? It sounds like such a difficult concept. Thanks!

Have you given C.S Lewis a try? I see you are already Christian, but I find he pushes ones thoughts places they might never consider. The title Mere Christianity is a good start.

After a quick browse through my religion and philosophy bookcase, I'd say some of my favourites are

Six ways of being religious / D. Cannon
Mysticism / F. C. Happold
Analects / Confucius
Bhagavad Gita / transl. by E. Easwaran
Beginner’s guide to Hellenismos / T. J. Alexander
Seven myths of the soul / T. Addey
Waters of life: devotional anthology for Isis and Serapis / comp. R. Buchanan & J. J. Baer

The book "What does the Bible really Teach?" Is a great book which is written by Jehovah's Witnesses. *post moderated*

"Who Are Doing Jehovah's Will Today" is a brochure published by Jehovah's witnesses and available free for download at JW.ORG.

One God, All in all
Conversations with God is a very good suggestion. I would also throw in Mysticism: Holiness East and West by Carmody and Carmody and any book by Paulo Coelho
