The Tao Te Ching is a good all around book, There are probably different styles of translation, though. I have one that seems less theistic in nature.
The Bhagavad Gita, is good, as well. There are versions with different interpretations, I suggest getting one that has explanations after the paragraghs, or chapters.

The God Delusion fom Dawkins would be a good start. You can learn everything about basically all religions at once.
