Giving 100%, and giving 110%

Lately I've been finding a lot of songs I agree with, or can vibe with.

Today, it's this one:


If I understood the message correctly, one element of the song is that the person would walk the seven seas for a person, but only if the other person is worthy of it to them.

I feel the same way about things quite often in my life. And this expressed message has been expressed in various ways before, I feel. One way is when the Bible says not to cast one's pearls before swine. Another is when someone (Voltaire) once said, "If you want to converse me, first define the terms" - even though the latter statement is more complex than that in meaning, I feel it can still apply to this in some cases.

So, I'm still thinking it over, but I may have a new life philosophy in the works as part of my philosophies about life, which is:

Give your 100%. But reserve your 110% for the demonstrable best.

Here are some tips on how to give 100% (or more):
Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100%? We have all been to those meetings where someone wants over 100%. How about achieving 103%? Here's a little maths that might prove helpful. What makes life 100%?

you close, attitude will get you there, but bull**** will put you over the top.

First off, YEAH for Sara!

I would say my philosophy is similar, probably using different percentages. If a person is not known to me, I'll risk giving "some", but certainly not 100%. Once I trust a person, I'm apt to give more.

BUT, you have to put on your own oxygen mask first. In other words, you can't give so much that you deplete yourself - that's just shortsighted and limits long term giving.

When it comes to your time, your attention, your effection, your love, etc. How does one give more than a 100%?
