I am wondering if there is a pattern or trend in giving frubars and wanted to ask what motivates people on here to give them and how they would generally rank those motivations.

rank them construct them make a pattern.....what is more likely to get a frubar from you humor or invadiating a point..what is your frubaring philosphy.

I do for many of those reasons...it would only let me mark one.:)

All of the above according to how a post strikes me. The rules frequently prohibit me from giving frubals.

somebody plot a course for me....rank them qualify them......I was looking for a pattern...whole thing is interesting really...like an ongoing sociolgy experiment...in communinative behavior.

I probably give more of them for funny or humorous arguments but thats only because I see a lot of them. The ones that I like the most are the ones that teach me something new and also change my way of thinking on a certain subject so I checked the "from a statement you learn or discover something new"

Where is the "Almost all of the above" button???

The only one I haven't frubaled for was for "invalidating". I am ALWAYS running out of frubals... huajiro deserved some and so did JewScout for first expressing the "all" possibility. :D

I try to frubal EVERY new member... a "Frubals on you Head" is a great intro into our group.

I Frubal for baring your heart next.

Humor is HIGH on my list

as well as great on target posts.

So many GREAT posts, and not enough frubals to go around! :D

I picked other for all of the above.

I can`t really give a standard for reason that I give frubals since I can`t decide how one outweighs another.

I am curious as to why you call them "frubars." Do you think these are cookies?

cause I can't spell and I was too narrow-minded it think to look at the spelling before typing the entry....that was bluntness as opposed to sarcasm. I need to watch that though....I know I make a lot of typos...it must irk people (not saying you :)) on here who are too nice to pm me about it.

Like the others, I couldn't vote for just one, robtex. The reasons why I have given frubars are:

1) for a funny or humorous response including wit, especially if it's self-deprecating

2) for demonstrating reasonableness or kindness, especially in a tense situation

3) for a statement from which I learn or discover something new

4) for stating something that I already agree with in a way that's much more eloquent or succinct than I could have put it.

5) to wish them well

probably in that order.

The only one I would not give one for is invalidating anothers point.I don't think this is productive and it is kind of vindictive.;)

I am in total agreement with this. I marked other because I give frubals for all the above reasons. Although, I have been slipping on frubal givings.
