Hey guys, I'm just wondering which case scenario do you think is better, and why?

This is provided believing in God leads to heaven and disbelieving in Him leads to hell.

I personally believe that believing in God and heaven and hell in the after life then having it turned to be not real is better, which is the first case scenario. At least then I wouldn't burn in hell because not believing in God and the after life, as the second case scenario suggests, normally lead to it.

Your thoughts?

Note:
There are other possible case scenarios too, but the thread is about these two only.

Update: please re-read the OP and the subject.

I picked the second. I rather come to God and go to hell in honor that I lived the right path in THIS life rather than a path based on hoping to be changed in the next.

The second scenario of afterlife, with hell, is only in certain religions. If there was an afterlife who knows what it would be like since no one's ever come back from there. If there was another life it might be good. Depending on what it was like. The God part I don't know, have no idea what that would be like if it existed. Would it be the loving father type, the wrathful tyrant or something else all together?

It certainly does depend on the belief system one follows. Is there any afterlife version in a religion you know of that does not have both paradise and hell?

Good Question SmartGuy!
I prefer the first because then i leave this world prepared while also living as a good human.
Believing And doing good deeds is Win-win situation. Let say there is no afterlife, i lost nothing.
If there is afterlife, i worshipped the One who created us and everything, not to get into paradise but because the Creator deserves to be worshipped and loved.

I don't particularly want an afterlife, but either way it seems better to me to doubt any exist.

If there is an afterlife and there is some attempt at shaping it to be fair to me, believing in an afterlife or in God would do no one any favors. Certainly not to me.

tl;dr it depends.

If we die and there's nothing...
... we won't be around to care.
So don't fret about it. Everyone's shuffling along one day.

If there's no God but an afterlife, cool beans.
If there's [at least one] God but no afterlife, oh well, we wo

If there is [at least one] God and an afterlife but he doesn't allow certain people in and destroys the others, well, that's not the worst thing ever, I suppose.
If there is [at least one] God and an afterlife but he doesn't allow certain people in and tortures the others, well, feel for them, forget about them, ask for them to enter, or ask for death of them or yourself.
If there is [at least one] God and an afterlife but he doesn't allow certain people in and tortures the others -- for eternity --and you're one of the others, you're screwed.

Hey man, it's good to hear from you again :)

Gosh. So many people hoping for an afterlife.

That is just weird. And more than a bit disgusting, frankly.

Now now :)

It is even a criticism that I am disgusted by people's desire to cling to the belief in an afterlife?

I dunno. I think not.

But sure, I can spell out why I find that so tasteless if you want.

I'm not angry, Smart Guy. That is a good question to ask. I am glad that you did ask it.

All the same, that people see afterlives as desirable, let alone believable... that does bug me quite a lot. It hurts my ability to have hope in humanity.

That is just how things are, at least now (and have always been to me far as I can remember). I have honestly never come across any arguments for either the existence or the desirability of an afterlife that I could muster much sympathy for... and quite a few are indeed disgusting, clear evidence of very misguided and harmful beliefs.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I already consider this as the afterlife givin the conditions before birth as arguably identical after death. I don't see the afterlife as being anything overly special or anything. Least of all notions by which a type of God is involved through a system of reward or punishment. 2 would be closest albeit not my particular perspective.

Sorry, your choice of words and getting off-topic made me think you were angry.

I apologize.

:) Don't apologize for my flaws, Smart Guy.

I would need to attempt to return the favor, and that would take a long time to happen...

Most of them. Pre-Christian religion here had mostly just one where everyone went to. It was guarded so the living could not enter. It was neither hell or heaven.

Yet others believe in reincarnation, or special places for heroes(warriors) like Valhalla.

Some have afterlife but no gods.
