You are going to hell because that is what God says happens to people like you.

Should Christians bear no responsibility for the awful things they say in the name of their vengeful God?
sometimes people become, or create, unconsciously the very thing they fear.

heaven and hell are states of mind. why go anywhere to have a persecutor; when there is one here?

I hear a lot of the opposite going on.
"It's not me telling you this... it's God. God through me. And I completely agree with God. But I don't take responsibility for what I'm saying, even though I'm the one telling you it and I believe it with my whole heart and soul."

"If you stopped me from saying this stuff, it would be an intolerable assault on my rights, since you would be interfering with my very being and my entire identity. But what I say isn't coming from me at all and I take no responsibility for it."

It's an immature and childish tactic and perspective. I don't really hold adults who are that emotionally and psychologically under-developed and stunted to any standard of responsibility. It's not very useful to expect things of people that are clearly beyond their capabilities.

Where is the love in that? Even a human parent wouldnt destroy their child because their child made an honest and informed decision to do things on his own.

Clearly, you're not capable of the perfect level of love required to want to obliterate someone for failing, after you set them up for failure.

I believe we are being most responsible in saying that. And as the title suggest it is God saying it not us.

I was raised believing that my suffering could atone for sin and save souls from hell. So I inflicted suffering on myself

I was foolish for believing such nonsense! I don't wish hell on Christians who are preaching this foolishness because I was one of them, but they also shouldn't be without consequence for it either.

They should wake up, be enlightened, and recognize the damage their toxic Dogmas are doing to people. They should suffer some consequence for the psychological damage they do and the lives they ruin. I've known monks that live lives of self-denial and penance, chronically inflicting suffering on themselves thinking it is saving souls, atoning for sin, and appeasing the angry God.

Their lives are ruined!

I'm glad you saw the light on this line of thinking. :)

It was no different in the time of Jesus who hated the misrepresentation of God.

I believe any sin leads to Hell. I believe it is the most responsible thing to say.

I disagree if I take it in the Christian perspective. Sin was paid for on the Cross. If any sin leads to Hell, and we all sin every day, then there is no salvation because no one is perfect.

God said it!
Don't blame me!
God condemns you.
I'm just telling you what the Bible says.
What the Bible says about homosexuality is.....
And i believe it!
If you don't believe it then you just condemn yourself.
It is there in black and white, no excuses.:)
Well I might suggest to you: Your own personal interpretation of Scripture, no matter how “black and white” it may appear to you could be one of your problems.

The fact there are hundreds of different Christian denominations often times disagreeing with what “God said” or what Scripture means, is a problem as well.

So that is why I insist thee Church that Jesus Christ established on earth to whom He gave “the keys of the kingdom” and the authority by saying “whatsoever you hold bound on earth shall be held bound in heaven” ---- that is the only source you might possibly put faith in as something akin to “what God said.”

So two questions for you: Where does the Catholic Church say definitively that you or some other very specific person will be going to hell or deserves hell? What Scripture verse can you point to that says you or another will be going to hell because of some specifics? Also, note, all wrongful thoughts, words, actions and lack of actions can very much be mitigated or abated by one’s own efforts or prayers or the mercy of God.

The point I am making is unbelievers being dogmatic in putting words in God’s mouth or Christianity’s mouth, are no better than a “dogmatic” Christian telling you why you will be going to hell or deserve hell.

Some have a different perspective.

Some have a different perspective.

Sure, and what of it?

Truth is truth. Isn't that what we often are trying to decide or arguing about?

Some do not even believe God exists. Does that mean if they are wrong, that truth of God's reality will not become consequential to them or their future? Maybe that is why some of us find it so important to try to witness to others of that fact.

Aren't they responsible for saying God said it? If they get around to proving God said it, then I guess that will relieve them of responsibility.

If they say some quote from the Bible, well that's what the Bible says or really what some unknown, unverifiable writer said in the past. They're not responsible for that.

It is not your responsibility to decide anything for anyone else.

None. The Catholic Church leaves the question open.

... so while it doesn't actually say "you need to baptize your baby, because right now, he's so evil he deserves to be tortured forever", it DOES effectively say "your baby is so evil that we aren't sure whether he deserves to be tortured forever."
