God's qualities

I appreciate that He is empathetic. Even though Jehovah God and his Son Jesus, are perfect they are empathic toward the human family remembering we are dust, sin and fall short of the glory of God. They are aware of our limitations and do not expect us to be perfect. God personally feels the pain his people suffer. At Zechariah 2:8 He says " He that is touching you is touching my eyeball". Jesus when he saw Martha weeping over the death of her brother, Lazarus, Jesus “groaned in the spirit and became troubled” and “gave way to tears.” To me empathy attracts. When we are discouraged or depressed, aren't we are drawn to someone who can comprehend our circumstances and share our pain? Then how much more we should be drawn to a compassionate God who feels our pain and understands the reason for our tears.

I like that the sadistic part. Ya know, he gives mercy at his will, allows us to suffer, loves when we beg.

Which of God's qualities is most endearing to you?

gods jealousy is quite endearing
shows that god is as insecure as all of us simpletons and how he NEEDS to feel important;

Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own.
Deuteronomy 13:6-10
6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods that neither you nor your fathers have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him. 9 You must certainly put him to death. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people. 10 Stone him to death, because he tried to turn you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

i don't get it, if the supposed creator of everything knows there are no other gods, why then is he jealous of something that doesn't exist, unless of course it's the free will of man that the god in the bible/quran is jealous of

Hmm, there are a lot of sadomasochistic themes in the abrahamic mythology. I wonder if Jesus wore a leather gimp mask at Golgotha.

Wait a minute...You are not telling me that I am the first to make the suggestion that G-d is sadistic, are you?

My God is cruel he creates floods and famines which kill many innocent children, on the other hand he gave me life and sentience to sit back and watch the children drown on 3-D television.

Cheers

No, because he is invisible. God created those men with the mental capability to figure out what they needed to do and how to do it.

I agree that this is a concern of many individuals. Do you consider yourself to be someone who believes in God but doesn't understand why these things happen?

i believe in chaos
i don't believe in why or asking for reasons.
i just don't understand it when good things happen, chile for example, god is glorified for showing his mercy and goodness, but then when 6 million people die, or a really bad earthquake hits, it is unexplainable.
children are being abducted all the time, earlier this year a mother with her 6 month were in central park. a tree branch fell and killed the baby...chaos.
some abducted children are found...chaos. there is no reason, it just is.
