Going Back To School

I've decided to go back to school to become a Physician Assistant.

...I fully recognize this is likely insane and I should probably have the dosage of my medication checked. I already have a Master's Degree. I'm in a mountain of student debt (which I will have to start repaying again in January, damnit). Why would I do this to myself?

In my current job and career track, I feel stagnant. Although I do enjoy parts of it, it has more of an operational focus rather than much direct interaction with patients or clients. And I've always enjoyed working directly with people and seeing how I can help them directly. And the medical field truly fascinates me and I feel passionately about helping deliver healthcare to all people. I've had a few colleagues at work tell me that they think I'd be good at providing direct patient care. So....here I am!

It'll take at least 3 years, starting with a year just to complete the undergrad prerequisite courses. So I have a while to back out if it turns out I'm terrible at it or hate it. :tearsofjoy:

If you'd like to fund this exciting venture, I am now accepting sugar daddy applications. Please include photo and most recent bank statement.

That sounds like quite an adventure.

My wife and I are of an age where we see various medical professionals for this and that going on. We've found the vast majority to be caring people and we rely on their expertise to keep us going. You thought of joining them sounds wonderful to me and I hope it works out as you want.

Oof. I felt that part about January.

Those sound like good reasons to pursue the additional education and new career. :rocket:

In other words, one year for some courses that you would have taken for your bachelor’s degree, and two years for the new master’s degree?

Brave. I congratulate you on your decision. Will it be part time? I.e. will you also be able to work to help fund this?

As for funding, please send me your bank account over/sort code/password and i will transfer some cash...

You "sound" like our oldest daughter, who got a legal assistant degree but then decided to go into teaching that's she's now done for over 25 years and loves it!

May God bless you on your choice and your journey.
