Doctors are hailing a medical breakthrough after curing a man of type one diabetes.
It is believed that 61-year-old Richard Lane is the first person in the UK to be cured of the illness.
Thanks to a groundbreaking cell transplant technique, Richard Lane will no longer need insulin injections.
Instead he has been given insulin-making cells from the pancreases of dead donors.
Experts hope the new technique could improve the lives of thousands of diabetes suffers across the country.

offers to shoot killers

The family of murdered Belfast man Robert McCartney have rejected an offer by the IRA to shoot the men responsible for the killing.
The extraordinary proposal came during one of two meetings between the IRA and the grieving family of Mr McCartney and followed their own investigation into the Belfast killing in which they admitted some of their members were involved.
The 33-year-old's family turned said it was an unacceptable way of bringing Mr McCartney's murderers to justice.
A statement claimed: "The IRA representative detailed the outcome of the internal disciplinary proceedings thus far and stated in clear terms that the IRA was prepared to shoot people directly involved in the killing of Robert McCartney.
"The family made it clear that they did not want physical action taken against those involved. They stated that they wanted those individuals to give full account of their actions in court."
Seven members of Sinn Fein have been suspended following the January 30 murder but no one has yet been charged with the killing. Three men thought responsible have been expelled.
