It's hard to understand -- hard to accept, and it hurts -- and it hurts to know the pain that his parents feel.
As a grandfather, you feel the hurt of all your family together. None of us knows the pain another feels at the loss of a child, a sibling, a grandchild. All we can do is hold each other closer.

My heart is with you. I had a nephew who died from alcohol and a brother who committed suicide.

May God help comfort the family and heal their hearts

My heart goes out to you as you grieve for him, for his parents, for yourself... and I am so sorry for the loss of your precious grandson.

I am very sad to hear of this. Alcoholism is a horrible disease (I know, I've been there) and if it's any comfort, the pain and insanity of it is over for him, now. This may be a weird way of looking at it, but it's likely that his dying that young has spared him decades more of the nightmare of addiction. That won't make those left behind miss him any less, though, I know.

I’m so very sorry. Such a great loss; so tragic, hard, and so painful. I have a son about that age. I can barely imagine the devastation you and your family are going through. I’m praying.
