Reagan sure did his country a favor when he formed a coalition of the jewelry rattling rich and the bible thumping fundamentalists. And no, I don't mean all rich are jewelry rattlers, nor that all fundamentalists are bible thumpers. That's missing the point.

When I was growing up, a lot of fundamentalists refused to vote because they thought of it as "too worldly". Reagan changed that. But they were right all along: Voting is too worldly for many of them.
