Weird that it's "obvious" but so far you haven't been able to explain what about it is "mockery."Thanks for your input, but , IMHO, the mockery of Catholics seems very obvious.

Rather than mocking a Catholic ritual, Whitmer and Plank were likely trying to capitalize on that recent TikTok trend to raise awareness of one way the Biden administration tried to boost the U.S. economy.
Wow, so much hate. I pray for your well being. Take care.Heaven forefend! Why, if the Catholics get too upset, they won't dress their young boys in robes and present them for Pedophile Hour!
I was raised Catholic, and they deserve actual zero respect. Who cares what those baby-rapers want? They should be outlawed.

I'm just not seeing it. The video still looks like thousands of others where folks feed someone else something and then blankly stare at the cam. If it were mockery wouldn't there be a little more ritualization or reading of Latin rites? She is arguing that this was not a mockery of receiving the eucharist on the toungue. Can anyone here honestly believe that, after watching the video? Seems pretty obvious to me. What say you?
Is Gretchen Whitmer Mocking the Eucharist? Catholics React
Is Whitmer truly mocking Catholics or is it just a viral video challenge?www.ncregister.com
I am, reluctantly, voting for Harris. But these 'stunts' by prominent Ds...WTF?? Maybe they are too clueless to understand their offensive behavior?
My only response is "wow."
(And watch again. I mean, really??).
Seems to me that this may be a case of apophenia or pareidolia. My response is that I watched the short clip of Whitmer feeding the chip to the "chip podcaster", which AFAICT has no religious agenda. It was just a play on the podcast theme that the interviewer loves eating chips. That's a snack food, not a communion wafer. I also watched the longer video, which did not say much at all about religion. So my take on this is that it was just a hit piece to stir up anger against Whitmer in the community of Catholics. It apparently worked with you.
And I remind you again that communion rituals exist on Christian traditions other than Roman Catholicism. I was raised and confirmed as an Episcopalian, before I stopped believing in religion. We had communion every Sunday. There was nothing in either the short clip or the longer video that even hinted at Catholicism or the Eurcharist. I think that you are a victim of the power of suggestion. You see what you were led to see.
I get that you see a similarity to the eucharistic ritual. I get that you think the similarity is intentional (despite @Copernicus pointing out the Tiktok trend they're following that has nothing to do with Catholicism). If you can't see it then your are (willfully, IMHO) blind. Must hate the Catholics... I get it. Be well.

What I don't get is why you're feeling insulted, offended, or whatever it is you're feeling.
What I really don't get is why you think that Gretchen Whitmer deliberately intended to insult people who feel as you do.
And another post goes by where you can't explain why it offends you.
Yup, I was looking for this exact thing. It's a tiktok trend/challenge. Nothing religious. They were participating in a tiktok trend. Get over it. America is a secular country,

Christians run the country, but believe they’re poor little victims, eager to take offense.Yup, I was looking for this exact thing. It's a tiktok trend/challenge. Nothing religious.
It's just another blow out of proportion like the non-"last supper" Olympic ****.
It's just meant to drum up Christian ire
Thanks. It's helping immensely.Wow, so much hate. I pray for your well being. Take care.

It mocks Catholics. We can’t eviscerate Kathryn for being racist in that other thread then pretend it’s ok to mock religion in this one.I did. Describe the problem you have with it, because I'm not seeing it.
It mocks Catholics.
Wait... what?We can’t eviscerate Kathryn for being racist in that other thread then pretend it’s ok to mock religion in this one.
If it was in fact a part of a stream of Tik Tok whatevers , it was a play on the CHIPS act and its resemblance to a religious act is not mockery, but an unfortunate coincidence that is being misunderstood and being amplified for partisan purposes. It mocks Catholics. We can’t eviscerate Kathryn for being racist in that other thread then pretend it’s ok to mock religion in this one.
