Greatest Villain in Movie History?

What do you think? Who do you consider to be the greatest movie villain? After seeing "The Dark Knight", I think Heath Ledger's Joker is up there. I might even put him as my personal favorite now. He was pretty awesome!

There are so many others, though. Just wondering what everyone else thinks.

I find myself often siding with the villians... Like on X-Men. I liked Magneto and Mystique.

5. Annie (Kathy Bates) in Misery.

7. Darth Vadar.

8. Gollum from LOTR.

9. Dr. Phibes (Vincent Price) from the Dr. Phibes series.

10. Livila from I Claudius

I was going to say Freddy Krueger but I wasn't sure if he should be catagorized as "villian" or "monster".

Definitely up there, maybe even number one. I liked Darth Sidious from Star Wars. With the Joker, I find myself thinking about how genius he is in his crimes.
