Great to meet you Quincy. What is one or two things about you from hobbies to interests. When did you decide you were an agnostic and what were you before you were agnostic?
I'm currently 17 years old, about to graduate high school, and I enjoy writing. I also admin a couple forums, which is where I know Rex from (mutual interests).
I was raised in a secular family; they did not discuss religion with me unless I had questions about it. I became a baptist for several years when I lived in Ohio, and upon moving to Colorado, slid away from the church, and became a strong atheist. About a year and a half ago, I realized that I did not totally discount the possibility that there is a higher creator, and thus, started a trend of finding a title for myself. I was a secular humanist for a short time, before become an agnostic.
Personally, I would be shocked if there is not some higher power...but I doubt with all my being that humans are capable of understanding what that deity would be, and conventional religion is a feasible attempt to explain why we are here, and how we became into being. Perhaps we'll be enlightened upon death in the mortal world, or perhaps death is truly the ultimate end. Either way, I feel that if one lives their life in the best fashion they know how, to help others and have no regrets, a life is fully realized.
I have more respect for someone who helps people but does not believe in God, rather than someone who 'knows' there is a God, but does nothing to help his fellow man. Religious hypocrisy is a big problem with me. I'm more like Jesus than a lot of his followers, and I don't even think he was real.
