I am new to the forum. I'm curious about religion and spiritual practice generally, and that has always been the case. I came from a mostly secular family and was confirmed and baptized in a mainline Protestant tradition but I am not a Christian in any meaningful sense. For over a decade I was an atheist/agnostic, and in recent years I've moved away from that towards a kind of monistic view.
A recent death in the family and other personal trials has made me question whether and how to resume a spiritual practice. In the past I've engaged with Buddhist meditation and yoga, and generally I see practice as more important for spiritual development than beliefs. But I am very interested in what others have to say.
I am also gay and my partner is an atheist raised Catholic.
