"Grooming"

Recently, I've heard some people claim that the act of grooming doesn't exist because the term itself doesn't exist in other languages, that the "consent" of a minor is legitimate, and that sexual predators are exonerated of their crimes once their victim becomes an adult. I think it's important to understand and recognize what gooming actually is.

It's a serious crime.
It's one of the most terrible crimes.
No question: children and teenagers must be protected from these people.

But grooming is not a juridical term. The juridical term is corruption of minor.

I find the Wikipedia explanation more informative. Child grooming - Wikipedia
But don't get confused, the word "grooming" is not used in juridical language as it is a neologism which doesn't had a consistent definition until recently. (And it may change or disappear as it is already abused.)
Maybe we all should use the old fashioned "seduction" instead.

The actions described as "grooming", affection, gaining trust, presents alone, are not illegal anywhere. The intent to abuse has to be present also where such behaviour is illegal - which is problematic as it is notoriously difficult to prove intent.

So, does "grooming" exist? Not as a legal term and maybe it shouldn't exist as a colloquial term in the form it is now (ab)used.

I'll be in the bathroom grooming my beard.
