Guardian angels

Starlight

Spiritual but not religious, new age and omnist
In Islam:
"Behold, two guardian angels appointed to learn a man’s doings learn and note them, one sitting on the right and one on the left. Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel by him, ready to note it."—Quran 50:17-18

In Judaism and Christianity:

“For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.”Psalm 91:11-12

In Zoroastrianism:

Each person is accompanied by a guardian angel (Y26.4, 55.1), which acts as a guide throughout life.

Do you believe in guardian angels?

Well, for sure we know that they are quite useless against bombs, for instance. So, I would question what they are good for.

It's a nice thought but no, there are no such beings.

This is a misinterpretation of the verse.

(1) The verses after show that there is a close companion from Iblis and one from God. This is a strong indication this is talk about these two close companions to the soul. One Qareen misguided the soul that is going to hell, while the other is testifying against the ones going to hell.

(2) The left handed and right handed due to this should be seen that the right denotes the righteous witness while the left the unrighteous companion close to the soul.

(3) Through out Quran, there is a witnesses from every people and other verses show the witness we will be called to on the day of judgment is the leader of the people of that time.

(4) Angels don't witness our deeds as indicated by the fact when polytheists called them, they would not hear their prayers nor would be able to respond if they did. The Angels will also from another angle say it was not them that were worshipped but Jinn were in fact worshipped by the polytheists.

(5) Angels are guardians in the sense they can help the souls by God's permission, those under Michael are trying to spread God's mercy and reach out and those under Jibreil are bringing believers closer to God. However, they are not constant witnesses. The constant witness from us per Quran is the Imam of time. The Ahlulbayt (a) also witness with the Imam of time as they witness the Imam of time. But the one on earth witnessing through the light on earth that God creates and makes him see deeds through is the Imam.

This is a strong indication that taking "a guardian Angel" as a guide towards God is really a Jinn from Iblis while the witness and proof of God of time is a human who is also the holy spirit that God guides the believers by.

I believe in humans that watch out for each other in this realm, and also hold the irrational belief that there is a God that provides salvation in the afterlife to all those who desire it for as long as they desire it. These two groups are my guardian angels, but I think that is not what you are referring to when you say angels.
