Guns In God's House

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The Virginia Senate has passed legislation aimed at allowing guns in church in response to a deadly church shooting in Texas.

The Republican-controlled chamber voted along party lines Tuesday to approve the measure, which would repeal a state law prohibiting weapons in a place of worship during a religious service. The state House still has to approve the bill, which Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam opposes and has indicated he would veto.

Absolutely great idea. The government should not have involved itself in regulating behavior in places of worship unless there was a compelling reason to do so. I don't see a compelling reason here.

Let the individual churches decide for themselves.

As congregations will continue to be able to bar firearms it will be interesting to see how many will allow it.

Yeah, but I don't qualify. Shucks!

"The words of the Bible are a guiding light for the faithful."

Besides, other than the narrator's mother, who could put up with that cloying voice. Aaaargh!

Practical. Doesn't say much for the virtues of Faith and complete trust in God though.

Just as well. God isn't going to protect them anyways if someone starts shooting up the place.

Are you sure?
Ever ask yourself, "Why is this law on the books?"
Virginia has been around a while. Perhaps it would be enlightening to find out why the law was passed in the first place.

Those who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it.

The law didn't prevent anything did It? What next make it double illegal to have a gun in a church? That will really make a difference! Doubling down is not always the answer. ;)
