Haggadah description

The haggadah is a book that lays out the order of the Pesach seder. There are certain elements it must contain, as set out by the individual traditions, and many contain stories, games, songs, and many other additions.

The haggadah doesn't have any authority itself; the requirements for the seder are set by Jewish law.

In Orthodox Judaism today, its a more or less standardized booklet that brings you through the Passover "seder (order)". It is made up of the rituals of the Passover Seder, prayers also found elsewhere, excerpts from the Talmud and passages specific to the Haggadah related to Passover. At the end are some Passover poems.

It doesn't have authority on anything as its more of a guidebook. Its order is binding though since it was accepted the way to perform the Seder.

Shalom.

Can you give a description of what 'Haggadah'' is, according to your practice?

What authority, does it have?

How is that authority reached?

I wrote four Haggadahs for my family's use. They range from 'simple and fun' to 'long and solemn'.
