Haitian Immigrants eat ducks and geese according to Trump

Don't anyone tell him the French are known to eat snails and frogs!

Did you know that Haitian immigrants are not vegetarian? They have even been known to eat ducks and geese. That's totally horrible according to Trump.

First it was cats and dogs. Then it was ducks.
If anyone cares: Diversifying MyPlate: Haitian Cuisine – Food Insight
Trump only eats McDonalds, and is completely oblivious to the fact that Elsie the Cow (gasp!!) is a key ingredient. Probably unaware that his baked Easter ham with pineapple is mostly made of Peppa Pig!

Does anyone actually believe any of this, is at all going to change the election?

I certainly don't.
Everyone knows or should know what he's really like. If someone changed their mind on RF based on all the discussion, I'd be very surprised. But to me it's worth keeping in mind just how whack-a-doodle he really is. It's one example that illustrates what George Will had to say https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/09/12/kamala-harris-presidency-republican-senate/ He's no friend of Harris since he's very conservative in the traditional sense. I'm on the other side from him, but when it comes to debt and the deficit, we both think needs addressing. I don't agree wit him on Harris but time will tell. The emphasis is mine:

Predictable developments (debt service, which already exceeds defense spending, precluding proper defense and other spending) and divisive choices (about pruning the entitlement state and addressing national security needs) within a decade will convulse U.S. politics.
But through the rhetorical fog in Philadelphia, one could glimpse a tantalizing possibility, a precondition for coping with the coming turbulence. The restoration of normal politics will require two things: The removal of Donald Trump — that Krakatau of volcanic, incoherent, fact-free bombast — from public life. And the rekindling of an irrepressible conflict.
...
This election pits someone whose current persona is obviously synthetic against someone whose dishonesty in the service of his egotism is scarily authentic. Now, however, traditional conservatives can envision the least unpalatable November outcome. They have an unenthralled understanding of government’s proper scope and actual competence. So, their preferred outcome would be the election of Harris, and of a Republican Senate to regularly remind her that most Americans disagree with most of what she believes.
...
If in 2028 Democrats have held the presidency for eight years, and for four years Republicans have stopped inhaling Trump’s fetid fumes, the momentous contest for the Republicans’ 2028 nomination will decide: Will meaningful two-party politics be restored by the revival of traditional conservatism?

It turns out that a woman was arrested for eating a cat. But not a Haitian.

And the man carrying the geese? This story is not widely sourced but sounds reasonable. Explanation finally revealed for viral image of man holding geese that fueled bizarre pet-eating claims in Ohio

The Ohio Division of Wildlife told TMZ that the man was picking up the two geese that had been hit by a car in Columbus, which is about 45 minutes from Springfield, where Trump had previously claimed that migrants were chowing down on the birds.
In order to collect a carcass, people need documentation from a county sheriff or wildlife officer, the wildlife organization explained, but according to the Franklin County Wildlife Office, this is not required for geese, meaning the man had a right to them.
TMZ reported that there is no evidence that the man is Haitian, an immigrant or that he even intended to eat the geese.

Seems a little rough on the complexion though.

Very good for the complexion and health. Particularly the snails,

In addition to being rich in protein, snails are basically free of fat, carbohydrates, and sugar (the sauce they're served in is another story, though on their own, these guys are as healthy as it gets). Snails are also rich in iron, magnesium, and other healthy minerals.

Why escargots aren’t as bad as you think?

I saw this body cam video a couple of days ago. This woman has mental issues.

When I moved to Chicago in the early 1980s there were many shops in and around my neighborhood that kept live chickens, ducks, geese, etc. that they would butcher for you. Many ethnic communities in the city preferred this: Chinese, Mexicans, Puerto-Recans, ...

The city did eventually ban them from keeping of live animals, though they allowed it regarding sea creatures for some reason.

When I lived in Richmond Va. prior to that, some of the poorer folks in my neighborhood kept live chickens. I could hear the roosters calling often throughout the day. I don't know if they were legal to keep, but I do know no officials ever came around to stop it.

I have killed and eaten squirrels, turkeys, pheasants, ducks, rabbits, and deer. And so have a lot of other white-faced red-blooded birth-certified Americans. My New York friends used to see homeless guys trying to catch and kill the pigeons there to eat. So I think a lot of this trumped up outrage about Haitians supposedly eating people's pets is quite disingenuous.

Well, if they actually were eating pets that would be different, they're somebody's pets after all. So aside from the fact that it would be stealing, from the perspective of any warm blooded pet owner it would be something akin to murder-lite.

At this point though I think it's become a big enough IF that isn't really even worth worrying about. None of the reports have been anywhere near reliable.

If they were actually killing and eating pets, someone ought to FEED THEM for God's sake! If this nation has become so selfish and cruel that we would force other humans to steal and eat people's pets then we have a far bigger problem than "immigration" going on!

I'm hesitant to get too deep into something that at this point is just a hypothetical, but realistically speaking if anyone were stealing somebodies pets for food it would no doubt have more to do with laziness and lack of empathy than actual hunger.

Because from my experience if somebody in this country actually is that hungry somebody will be feeding them.
