Texas and Florida certainly aren't lacking in population, but they pale in comparison to the North East and California. California alone has more people living in it than Canada.While I agree that those areas do have higher population centers, places like Texas and Florida aren't exactly lacking in population. I think it has more to do with political beliefs (liberal vs conservative).
You'd also be mistaken to assume that all or most California and the North East liberals go along with this drivel just because of how their electoral votes.
