It's a sunny 72° here, but I'm dreading the next few months. I don't like hot weather.

Our summer has been somewhat mild, at least compared to how it usually is during June. It's only been about 100-102° or so, but next week, it's expected to get above 110°. No rain in the forecast. I'm a longtime desert rat, so I'm used to it.

I'll just wear shorts everywhere I go and keep my Crocs with me.

That way as I'm riding around on my bike all day in the hot sun, I can stop here and there and get under a faucet somewhere.

I always carry one of these . . .

. . . so I have access to a quick shower just about anywhere. :D

I just wish the rivers and creeks were clean enough to swim in.

I lived in Barstow one Summer so I know what you mean.

Walking a mile to the store in 110° weather was no big deal after a while, and I always got a kick out of the way the heat waves coming off of the asphalt made the world look like it was melting. :D

I know "but it's a dry heat" sounds a bit cliché, but being in SoCal, a dry heat is definitely easier to deal with.

Our spring here was unusually mild, I certainly can't complain.

A lot of parks and open spaces have faucets with the handles removed. I think it's a holdover from the drought, they didn't want people just randomly using public water.

The key I showed you fits right over the fawcett stem and works as a handle.

Yuppers, and I just found a little park about 2 miles from me that has plenty of water faucets and even has electrical outlets and bar-b-que grills.

Best thing about it is that during the week its pretty much deserted, all you can hear are the birds and the breeze.

Hard to find places like that these days.

I can see myself using that a lot this summer.

Good to know. That seems like a good tool for the survival bag everyone should have in their car.
