Just hoping the coming year is a happy one for everybody on RF -- even those good folks I often disagree with. Best wishes to you all!

I love to make people laugh. I stopped at Speedway on my way to one of my restaurants this morning at about 7:30am, went to the cooler, and grabbed a Diet Mtn Dew. I set it on the counter in front of the cashier and announced, "My New Year's resolution was to quit drinking Mtn Dew. How am I doing so far?"

The cashier and a few of the customers burst out laughing.

Wanton levity is appropriate for any occasion, solemn or otherwise.

Your attitude is rampant in the West today, and it plays directly into the hands of the Chinese. It is the precise reason our civilization is rapidly taking a backseat to their booming economy. Tsk. Tsk. Can't be serious for a second, can you?

Is the problem levity, rampant levity, or wanton levity?

My levity tends not to be as wanton as I would like, and I would prefer it be a bit more rampant.

There is a difference between wanton and wonton. The Chinese tend towards wonton levity.

I wasn't expecting that. I wasn't prepared for that at all, Poly. I almost fell out of my chair belly-laughing. You're going to hear from my lawyer now for putting me at risk of injury.
