It is not in Trump's nature to be loving and nurturing. It is not in Trump's nature to kind and caring. It is not in Trump's nature to be polite and respectful. Trump likes to use tough guy rhetoric and make it very clear he is swinging the biggest male part in the room.
Here's an example of what I mean. Trump isn't exactly endearing himself to Chinese leaders with his rhetoric:
Trump blames China for coronavirus pandemic: 'The world is paying a very big price for what they did'
Has Trump's demeanor, especially with his relationship with China and Chinese leaders caused a critical shortage with importing medical supplies?
Maybe it's wise not to bite the hand that feeds you medical supplies!
Here's an article that is saying, no, Trump is not the cause. This article is claiming Chinese manufacturers have too many orders to fill and cannot produce enough.
Imports of medical supplies plummet as demand in US soars
"“The lag time could be weeks. It could be upward of months,” said Khatereh Calleja, CEO of the Healthcare Supply Chain Association."
I doubt this is the case. The Chinese have a state run economy. If there's demand and money to be made Chinese officials will command resources to the create a solution to meet demand. I am very surprised the article doesn't mentioned more concrete lead times. I've purchased lots of things from China. Once you pay them money you get put into the queue. It's pretty clear when your order will be made and shipped. I don't understand why the article makes it sound so unknown. It really makes no sense to me. If a Chinese factory has 10 orders for 5 million items they know exactly when production will be completed for each order.
The other thing is if an American company is buying medical supplies it will most like go FCL ocean freight. This would probably take 4 to 6 weeks to travel across the ocean to Port Elizabeth or Port South Beach. And then 2 or 3 weeks to clear US customs. Here's a novel idea. Get permission from the Chinese government so the US can have a C137 ready at the airport to receive the medical supplies and fly them here in 24 hours with tax payer dollars. This seems to me like a really good use of the US military during a major crisis.
