Has your life been one of packing and unpacking?

As you grew up, did your family move a lot? Were the moves a good distance? Did you stay in one region or one town? How about your adult life when you went out on your own?

In my youth (up to the age of 19) I had five residences all within the same city, In fact one move was only from the upstairs apartment to the ground floor apartment (the landlord wanted the one we had so we swapped). Another time, we built a small house on a vacant lot across from where we lived so that move was just across the street. Only four different schools and that was primarily because of graduating to the next level of public schools.

However, my adult life has seen moves from state to state and country to country ( I spent 20 years in the Air Force and I went where assignments took me.) Texas, Mississippi, Turkey, New York State, Japan, Louisiana, Nebraska,Germany - those were stops where I set up my home. After Germany, I settled in Virginia and only have changed regions within the state.

Nah...my family's moved once, and that's been about it. And even then it was just to a different part of town.

Although I do seem to do a fair amount of packing and unpacking in the summer...

When I was young, my parents moved 13 times, as best I can remember. We lived in Ohio for the most part, and spent a few years in Iowa. All the moves were within a general area of the state. As an adult I lived for a while in Ohio and moved 4 more times. The I moved to Virginia where I have moved about 9 times. So YES! I have packed and unpacked a lot!

Let me see...I might have this wrong, but the numbers are as close as I can remember. *thinking* Was born in the capital city, we lived in two places there (I think - I was a baby so I don't remember there), we moved to the town I'm in now (3 hours away from the capital), when I was still a baby, and lived in three different places here (again, I'm guessing). Moved to a town an hour from here, and lived in three places there. I packed up and went to Uni when I was 18, packing up my stuff at the end of that year and spending the summer at my mum's, then packing up again to go back to Uni the next year...then packing up to move back to mum's when I dropped out of Uni in the middle of the year. Then I moved into town (mum lives on a farm about 20 mins from town), with a friend of mine, then she and I moved to the town I'm in now. I have lived in three different places here, and I'm currently sorting through all my stuff, looking at packing everything I want to keep up, putting it in storage, and finding a job o/s!

Grand total of moves: 15...and I'm only 28.
