She's doing her job as part of the sacred clown tradition (speaking truth to power--reminding political powers of issues such as fairness and justice.) As a Pastafarian, I recognize the effective sacred clown work The Satanic Temple does.

Have you ever read the Bible? They admire the spirit of Satan in the Bible, Satan is generally the good guy in the Bible if you understand the book. She is a member of the Satanic Temple:

There are Seven
FUNDAMENTAL TENETS
  • I
One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.

  • II
The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.

  • III
One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

  • IV
The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
  • V
Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.

  • VI
People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.

  • VII
Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.
About Us

I did not understand the fourth point.
Is that the freedom to violate the law?

My favorite Satanists are not the ones bawling their eyes out about feeling oppressed, and complaining about fashion choices in children’s school. I mean tst is absolutely pathetic.
Considering you told another member he should have just accepted an arbitrary rule that was made up on the spot against him, I get the feeling the Satanists you would like would be those who accept slavery and abuse with a smile.

Hays school board votes to prohibit satanism in dress code

Some background info. Mary Turner a parent of some students complained about this rule in a July meeting. Her family is Satanist, which is an officially recognized religion in America. She did not like the fact that Christian students could wear clothing proclaiming their faith but people of other faiths, hers specifically, could not do so.

You can read about it here:

Hays USD 489 to revisit dress code after parent complains about satanism ban

As a result that language was taken out of the school handbook.. Score one for Mary Turner. But her victory was short lived one particular school board member went out of his way to convince others to vote to have it returned to the handbook.

I smell a lawsuit.

Satanism is one of the many regonized regions in the US. If they ban one, they need to ban them all.
Allowing some but not others is going against the constitution.

Naughty, naughty. Quote mining the Bible is a sin that a Christian should never perform.
why do you think quoting the bible is sin?

Short story. Satanists have taken the classic image of Satan and use it for their own purpose. For them Satan is a metaphor and symbol.
If Satan is just symbol or metaphor then there is no subject or worship and thus this confirms Satanism isn't religion.

Seems reasonable to me.

1. These are kids. They don't get to be deliberately stupid and offensive until they are adults.

2. The same applies to nazi garb, whorish get-ups, street gang bull####, and whatever other nonsense kids like to wear to scare the grown ups, and that doesn't belong in school. The grown ups would be idiots to allow it.

My favorite Satanists are the ones that fight oppression, especially against Christians.

"Angel of Light, and Lord of the Sacred Flame.
A liberator to free you from your shame.
Ride out and set the slaves all free."

I love Inkubus Sukkubas! I didn't know they were Satanist though.

Reasonable to ban Satanic expression but not Christian?

Satanic garb may sometimes be primarily to shock adults, but as long as it doesn't contain profanity, nudity, or drug use, it is constitutionally protected as long as any other religious garb is allowed.

Kids in school are not afforded that same 'rights' as adults, for obvious reasons. And the determing factor here is "offensive", meaning provocative and/or distracting. Not religious. Personally, I think they should ban all "messaging" because it's completely unnecessary and the easiest way of eliminating a lot of this nonsense.
