Hello..with questions

Questions being that I am seeking advice, a mentor and just help I guess. So, for a time I was a part of a Spiritualist Church, and it felt decently right at the time. I am a big believer in the holistic approach to remedies and such, reiki and the like. But it never felt 100% like I belonged, but I did discover some abilities of mine, which I wish to learn and hone in on, and while I can find a decent amount of Spiritualist churches around me in Southwestern Massachusetts, as I said, it never felt 100% right. After some legal issues arose, I was able to leave with basically no damage done, and was super perplexed. I did some reading into other religions and found the Loa Shango (Chango or Xango, whichever one prefers) and I feel that he is watching over me. I have done some research and do my own type of shrine ritual to him, and find differences between when I have done it and have not on the day (Friday). However, I am not in a location that it is easy to find practitioners, so I have turned to online for some mentoring and education..and possibly even confirmation.

Welcome. I know we don't have any practitioners of Vodun at the moment but we do have a few Spiritualists, I believe.

Thank you, though if lovesong is right, looks like I will only find half of who I seek haha. But half is better than 0!

You may or may not want to seek Umbanda practicioners. Shango is one of their Orishas.

There is quite a lot of Brazilian Umbanda activity. If you think I may help, perhaps by translating or by reaching out for some practicioners, give me a hint.

Edited to add: Candomblé is another Brazilian religion that refers to Shango.

I'm no practicioner, but word has it that Umbanda is a spiritualist religion and treats Shango as a spirit, while Candomblé sees him as a form of deity.

From what you say, I suspect you will want to learn some about Umbanda specifically.

Thanks for the input! I will definitely ask if I need help. Right now I have Google translate for that webpage. I will look into that, I am more than welcome to suggestions and input.

I had not come across that group when I was doing my Googling a few months back. I found Shango listed under a Santeria website and then when googling Shango himself, it showed up in Vodoun web pages, but never anything Brazilian.

Edited to add to your edit I did not see: Based on what you are saying, and how I feel that he may be watching over me, I would concur with you that I should look into Umbanda. Though the fact I think he is watching over me, is merely my conjecture based on instances only I have witnessed.

Welcome to RF. The food thing is how one member, @Revoltingest greats new people here - it's a thing with him. Others here have their own quirks and oddities, some more so than others.

Greetings!
I had some tenants once who did Reiki.
The therapy was dubious, but their checks cleared with flying colors.

Now, I offer today's treat to all newcomers.....

It's bison chili with green pepper sauce on brown rice.
