Hello,

I am new here today. My name is Tom. I'm a middle aged guy. Married with 3 kids.

I was raised Baptist, and was even baptized, but started having conflicts with religion (and religious people ) around my teenager years and distanced myself from it then. I've sometimes been involved with church since then but it just never really sets well with me. I'm not involved in any church right now.

I do believe that God exists and that we are created. But don't believe much more than that. I don't call myself a Christian.

I have some observations and questions to put in front of religious people. I hope I will find some truthful responses in this forum.

Welcome, Tom! I'm sure you'll find some very stimulating conversations around here over time.

I am a "religious person," if by that you mean a person who embraces a particular set of religious beliefs and practices. I am in my forties and have led a very full life, so my faith has been challenged over the years, but it's still intact.

I am not as interested in debate as I am discussion, in a tone of mutual respect which I find quite possible even when opinions differ. If you've got some questions, I'd be happy to hear them.
