Hello!

Hello!

My name is Reuben, I'm almost 18, I live in Israel, I was born in Northern Samaria, and I'm a neo-Canaanite.

I see myself as a Hebrew-Jew, not as follower of Judaism, but a part of the Jewish people - as an ethnic people, following the Canaanite religion of the ancient Hebrews and our Northern Canaanite (Phoenician/Punic) brothers.

Well... Hi :)

Well this is bloody ironic. This is what I just posted on my status on Facebook:
Last day of excavation, it's end of the day, and I just finished blocking the entrance to the site by using a JCB. For some odd reason I decided to insist on telling the JCB driver to add an extra layer in order to make the idea that the way is blocked clearer. Well, after a minute a swarm of oriental hornets lynched mob me as apparently the front loader of the vehicle hit their ground nest. Is this some nasty joke of a Hindu god who uses Karma to pester me? It's the second time in several months that these winged fiends of Satan target me. Well, after spending an hour and a half in the emergency room, getting a tetanus shot, and a generous dose of liquid optalgin... I can safely say that a nice cold beer is the best anesthesia. Let the weekend commence... the pain is a small price to pay for the chance to excavate nude idols of Canaanite fertility goddesses.
Seems like the goddess Ashera and the god Baal sent you to me Ben Tanit!
Welcome to RF!

I don't see why. Jews/Hebrews have been proved to come from the Canaanites, as well as the Hebrew language being Canaanite. I think the concept of "a Jew gotta adhert Judaism" is somewhat justified, yet not completely - coming from the Hebrews' canaanite origin.

You didn't read my entire post did you? ;)
I meant it is ironic considering what I just posted on my facebook status about nude idols of the Canaanite goddess Ashera.

So in case you didn't read my entire post, which seems to be the case. I find it ridiculously ironic that the first Israeli neopagan of the Canaanite type joins the forum on the same day I finish excavating a Canaanite archaeological site in Israel. Poetic and romantic. If I was the believing kind, I'd think that our ancient native gods are trying to tell me something ;)
And also, Ben Tanit... did you happen to go to the Israeli neopagan Mabon festival a few weeks ago?

Yeah, sorry I didn't read all of that... I think it is something Asherah (my central goddess) would plan - perhaps we have a destiny.

And no, at the time I was in Canada, visiting family.
