hi what's up everyone??? I'm a Gnostic, well sorta. I practice what's "considered" the first Gnostic movement, the Simonian Tradition founded by the one and only Simon Magus himself Hence why I chose the nickname.
Ok a little clarification here. I don't consider the tradition Gnostic in the strictest sense. It has similarities to both Christianity and Gnosticism. Simon was considered, like Jesus, to be an incarnation of God. When I was reading about his stories awhile ago I felt very drawn to him, and I decided to follow him as my Savior rather than Jesus, who I did not feel as strong a bond with. I don't think Simon should be forgotten anymore, He was a great prophet and an even better person. I understand that his movement died out about 7th century or so, he's been wrongly labelled as an arch-heretic and possessed of devils.
But This person did and said some amazing things according to the stories, he was similar to Jesus, but had his own style. The movement's central beliefs were concerned with ethics and grace, such as "love thy neighbor" and "faith in the grace of God." Simon was more concerned with purity of heart and acts of goodness rather than intellectualism and mysticism.
well anyways, that's my personal beliefs, but I'm mostly here to just meet fellow spiritual folks and chat
