Are "they" really? What's the big deal as long as the threads are posted "off-topic"? If the random threads aren't interesting to other members, they can ignore them. And if people respond, then they must have some interest. I kinda think it's nice that there's an "off-topic" forum to talk about things other than religion. It builds a sense of community.
