i'm relatively new to this forum, so what shall I do if I get a 'Friendship request' in my message box from someone wanting to be my pal IF their screen name indicates they're nonchristian?
Don't get me wrong, I'm flattered, but the Bible tells us we're not supposed to hang with nonchristians, so I'm in a dilemma and wondering what I should do?
How exactly do you want people to “Help you out”. Everything you have said in this thread indicates that this is not a dilemma for you. If you don’t want to accept a “friends request”, don’t accept it. Where is the dilemma?

It seems to me that it is not enough for you to simply reject the friendship of non-believers, you want everyone to know that you reject their friendship. It is no fun for you to shun someone if no one knows about it. Just like when you helped out someone in need (with a bed for the night, or £20) you want as many people as possible to know about it. OK, we now all know you don’t want to be friends with non-believers. Mission accomplished. I hope you are happy now.

Maybe I'm not as tough as you mate, but I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings by heartlessly ignoring their friendship request and am open to suggestions what to do, just like this thread title says on the box..

Its people like you who have given christianity a bad reputation. I would never turn down a friend request, I don't care who it is or how they live or what they believe.

Then you turn around and make a prejudged foolish statement about me not wanting to be Jesus buddy. You don't even know me or my desires toward Christ, and yet you insult me.

This is what christians do. They insult, judge and then have the nerve to claim they are Christ like.

Peace.[/quote
Please dont say all Christians are like that. Some of us actually think for ourselves and everyones opinion is part of God.

Definitely one of the reasons why I destroyed and escaped this rosy-colored stained glass house. I came across and observed so many diverse people to be way too beautiful to ignore just because some book of nonsense dictates it. I make friends because of them and not what they believe. -NM-

But i was accused of not helping people, so those examples were forced out of me in my defence..:)
Anyway Jesus said "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven"-Matt 5:16

And hopefully they'll start doing the same stuff, think 'snowball'..:)

But Jesus-rejecters are not 'successful' fools like me..;)

Interesting way to put it. I would say that you need to understand the informality of a friendship request on a forum like this. Sure there are people who have met and have made life long friends on this forum, but we are talking about very few. Now you have been bowled over by a sudden frienship request from someone you dont know and that has made you feel uncomfortable.

I am hoping of course that in time you would have come to know more people on here and will be able to make connections in some way with people you either like very much or have the same ideas as you do. Some people are able to go further than that and befriend someone who does not share their same religion or philosophies yet they have no problem to associate with them as a fellow human being.

It is true that you are a successfull fool. :DPerhaps some of that success can rub off on someone. You wont be any good to anybody, if your gonna keep away from people. In your personal life you have much more control over who comes into your living room. On the internet you have people in your living room or whereever your computer is, whether you like it or not. HE HE...

Come to think of it...if a prostitute could sleep in your bed, surely you would have less trouble on here with something like a frienship request.

See you around.

So instead you start a thread about it? Ok, here is my suggestion. If you don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings don’t start a thread about how they are not good enough to be friends with you.

Sorry, but I don’t believe for a second you started this thread because you didn’t want to insult someone. You started this thread precisely because you did want to insult someone, and you wanted to do it publicly, and you wanted to make yourself feel superior doing it.

But it was only their screenname that puts me off because it instantly labels them as a follower of a Satanic belief system.
Sure I could just ignore 'em but I don't want to hurt their feelings and am looking for a convenient 'get-out', I'm just a big softy..:)

If we seperate ourselves from others by not accepting their requests for friendship then we have made immediate base judgements about that person, they are not worthy to be our "friends". Yet, "Judge not lest ye be judged"Matthew 7:1

HE HE.... your first friendship request? And that from a satanic cult member. LOL...i find it rather funny actually. ;)

If you are worried that the friendship request was an attempt to get a 'hair' sample from you to stick on a voodoo doll and poke holes in you, you need not fear. All you really should have done was well....nothing. I think that by starting this thread you have made a this front page news. Most people who tell you not to judge, have now judged you as being a horrible person. All in all. Sometimes things should just be left unsaid. But now that it is done, that is that. I would say there is no need to make a bigger fuss about this than it already is.

Friendship is a precious pearl not to be dished out willy-nilly or it cheapens it.
For examp, what if a paedophile, Satanist, murderer, thief or such like says "Can I be your friend"?
Jesus said "You're my friends if you follow me". See, he didn't regard anybody else as his true friends at all..

This was not addressed to me, but if you will allow me to answer. Jesus did say, that you are my friends if you follow me. Of course we cannot say the same to our friends. Can we?
