The cake is a lie
There's something I've been curious about, and I'm hoping someone here could help me find out what this is.

I'll try to describe it as best I can. When I was very young, whenever I was excited or thinking, I would hold my hands up to my head and clench and unclench them rapidly. I was never aware of this when I did it, and would sometimes, for lack of a better word, 'twitch' in different ways, usually by jerking my arm. Almost all the twitches happened in my arm, though my head/neck would occasionally twitch as well.

After being made fun of it up until 3rd grade, I managed to get control of it for the most part. Now I only twitch when I know I'm alone. It still happens whenever I think/get excited when I'm alone, though.

Does anyone have any clue what this is?

Twitchy? I'd say you weren't afraid of showing your excitement...Kids can be cruel...how do you show your feelings now when you get excited? My guess would be that someone inticed you into being excited when you were very young and it became second nature for you to react that way...I guess we all do things that appear odd but it really bothers you and I'd like to be more helpful but short of it being medical it just sounds to me as if this was just your way....I used to laugh too big when I laughed...showing my gums and teeth like a mule...got picked on big time for that...Too bad we felt those kids who picked on us were more perfect than we were. Twitch away sweetie...don't let people make you feel strange...be you. I'm sorry I haven't helped...good luck in what you're searching for...I'll bet you are just great for who you are though.:)

I twitch all the time. My tang soo do master used to call me fidget cuz I never stopped moving. It could be lots of different things that make you twitch. But it could be most likely your excitement. Almost like your mind is jumping up and down and doing flips, but your body is holding it back.

hey, it could be worse... When I get realy nervous my hands itch. The itch turns to a rash, the rash turns to blisters... the blisters pop and the skin dries up and splits painfully... then all the skin on my palms peels off. The whole process is both painful and annoying.

I'd rather twitch ;)

I'll be the first to admit I'm not a liscensed health professional (we massage therapists have to say that before asking medical question, hehee!) but do the twitches feel a certain way? Are they accompanied by pain, or a tingling sensation?
