am christmas shopping

for a young mind..who is feeling wanting

so my question is,

reccomendations for books and texts that would help one with understanding mysticism.

With the one provision, this kid is down on christianity....

a simple reccomendation/s and a quick why? please

I am thinking of the tao of physics initially, it helped me many moons ago
It is a flawed book, but it does help one to think differently

I'm also thinking maybe Gleik's chaos book, which isnt really mystic
and I havent read that in about 20 years...

so suggestions please
