Hemp fibres 'better than graphene'

"The waste fibres from hemp crops can be transformed into high-performance energy storage devices, scientists say. They 'cooked' cannabis bark into carbon nanosheets and built supercapacitors 'on a par with or better than graphene' - the industry gold standard. Electric cars and power tools could harness this hemp technology, the US researchers say."

I'd like to have a windmill, but I worry about ecologically friendly ways to store energy. I wonder if this would also work for storage of energy for home use?

Currently there is a huge complicated soup of battery research ideas, and this only represents one development. I don't know if anyone is comparing all of the ideas. Universities want patents, and it seems like any prof who is involved with materials development has got to try new battery ideas. Eventually the universities are going to have to start comparing patents, and the businesses will start to scrap over which ideas are most profitable. The choice of what battery we use is likely going to fall to big businesses, because the environment is hostile to small businesses and because consumers just take whatever is on the shelf.

I don't think we will be seeing commercial hemp batteries. It could be that people will start making our own this way if its as simple as it sounds. That would be very good.

Would like to use hemp batteries, but they're too high...just sayin'.

LOL...hemp has no THC...sorry no High. :p

Its a wonder plant with so many uses that are biodegradable and useful.....how stupid of humans not to get all the benefits from it. Plastic made from hemp would feed the marine creatures instead of killing them. It would fertilize the soil instead of polluting it. Greed got oil profit did this....
