Here we go again: Denial is theme of disasters, starting with Hamas and going back at least to Pearl Harbor and WW II Start

Right now, everyone allied with Israel is crying about "failure of intelligence." Yet, just about every major attack that wasn't preempted (the way the Israelis did so brilliantly in 1967) was preceded by alleged "lack of intelligence." Examples, in reverse order are:
  1. Hamas attack, 2023;
  2. September 11, 2001 attack on World Trade Center;
  3. 1973 Yom Kippur War;
  4. Pearl Harbor; and
  5. The start of WW II on 9/1/1939, when Winston Churchill had been one of the few voices "crying in the wilderness."
I believe that all of these events were "hiding in plain sight." People much prefer the mundane to the horrific. No one wants to needlessly send their children off to fight and quite possibly never return to their childhood bedroom alive. People look for any reason, negotiations, denial, "maybe it won't happen," etc.
I believe that the "forces of good" would prevail with much less horrific bloodshed if once in a while, we believed our own (or our intelligence's) eyes and acted before helpless women were being dragged off the street.
