Hide the Eggs From Jesus Day...

McBell

Unbound
Jesus died on Friday.
On Sunday Jesus came back.
This is why we hide the eggs.
Can someone explain this to me?
I can understand the idea of eggs coming from bunnies, this is so that the chickens are also safe, but why hide the eggs in the first place?

To suck the kiddies in of course. Which kid, aside from the lactose-intolerant, does not like chocolate easter eggs? Or treasure hunts? Or treasure hunts involving chocolate eggs?

I think the egg is the symbol for the soul, at least it was in pre-christian pagan myth. Its also the "Cosmic Egg" encircled by the world-serpent, from which all life springs. Of course its just fertility symbols adopted by the Church in order to convert the heathens.

I like hiding Easter eggs on the roof. The little ones never suspect they're up there.

The eggs do not have anything to do with Jesus, it just gets some guys rich off the backs of people who fall easy prey to marketing, but hey its there money, even none Christians at times, i prefer to put my money to better use.

Exactly, because if it wasn’t for Easter how would they ever be able to sell all that nasty chocolate and candy?

Eggs is about fertility rites. Easter was the name of some fertility goddess, I think. Jesus resurrection just happened to coincide with this goddess. I really don't know for sure. It is similar to the yule log at Christmastime.

Except at Easter they charge more, funny aint it?, premium prices for a product at easter that has nothing to do with Easter, i can only guess its to give the Atheists something to be happy about at Easter, while we have our celebrations.
Beware though second on the lips etc.:D

Modern "Easter" is the combination of the Christian celebration of the resurrection of Yeshua, with the Roman "Easter" fertility festival (from which the symbols of a bunny and eggs come), with elements of the Jewish Pesach (Passover) festival.

The name Easter, as mentioned earlier, comes from a pre-Christian fertility Goddess. The ritual of hiding and finding eggs is something to do with a festival to honor the Goddess. The Christianized holiday, much like Christmas, was put during a similiar time due to a similiar theme (of the rebirth/renewal of life) to better appeal to the Pagan religions of the day.

Yeah, I believe the goddess's name was Ostara, really similar.
