About standards. I notice that Trump supporters are quick to abandon theirs and devolve into awful practices that might even be termed deplorable.
But the reverse doesn't seem to be happening... at least not to the same degree.
There's a certain guilt by association here, expectially since it's by your choice. Birds of a feather flock together. Trump, the bully bigot, attracts other bully bigots or at the very minimum people who are comfortable enough with bigotry that they can overlook it. Ergo, Trump's supporters either have no moral standards when it comes to bigotry or it's a sliding one that allows them to abandon it as is convenient for them. Either way, those of us that see bigotry as the quintessential character flaw see this as deplorable. What's more, like a flat tire on your car, we feel compelled to point it out. Call it tough love, but we're concerned that you don't understand the implications of driving around with such a flaw.
Now, how did we arrive at the conclusion that Trump's a bully bigot? We didn't have to listen to the DNC or even the RNC to figure it out. No, we got it straight from the horse's butt. There are hours and hours of Trump's self proclaimed bigotry to listen to. He's not a closet bigot, but to be honest, he doesn't even realize that he's a bigot which makes him an ignorant bigot. Ouch! But even with him being ignorant about his bigotry, we expect our friends and associates to be a bit less clueless than Trump. Yes, it bothers us that you don't, can't or won't see it, especially when it's this stinking obvious.
To be clear, and I've posted this before, not everyone voting for Trump is a bigot. That's a truth as far as I can tell. However, I'm also fairly certain that almost all bigots will be voting for Trump. Ergo, you don't have to be a bigot to vote for Trump, but it helps. This may be a brutal truth, but I see it as a truth, nonetheless.
Now, if you want to call that intolerant, then I'm OK with that. I would rather be guilty of being intolerant towards bigotry than being tolerant or worse, supportive of it. I hate, hate, hate bigotry and I see Trump as the epitomy of ignorant bigotry. I'm so glad we've had this talk. Hopefully you'll better understand why I see Trump as the worst possible candidate for POTUS in the history of this great country.
