Hinduism Predates Christianity

Recently, there have been accusations that the concept of bhakti (devotion) in Hinduism is the result of Christian influence. This is simply not true:

Heliodorus was a Greek ambassador to India in the second century B.C. Few details are known about the diplomatic relations between the Greeks and the Indians in those days, and still less is know about Heliodorus. But that the column he erected at Besnagar in central India about 113 B.C.

A reproduction of the inscription, along with the transliteration and translation of the ancient Brahmi text, is given here as it appeared in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society.

" This Garuda-column of Vasudeva (Visnu), the god of gods, was erected here by Heliodorus, a worshipper of Vishnu, the son of Dion, and an inhabitant of Taxila, who came as Greek ambassador from the Great King Antialkidas to King Kasiputra Bhagabhadra, the Savior, then reigning prosperously in the fourteenth year of his kingship."

It is also interesting to note that the Heliodorus column has other historical merits. Around the turn of the century, a number of Indologists (Weber, Macnicol, and others) had noted " points of similarity' between the Vaisnava philosophy of unalloyed devotion and Christian doctrine. They had argued that Vaishnavism (worship of Visnu and Krsna) must have been an offshoot of Christianity, and cited the similarity between stories about Krsna and about Christ to further support their claim.(9) But the discovery of the inscription on the Heliodorus column laid their speculations to rest. Here was conclusive archaeological proof that the Vaisnava tradition antedated Christianity by at least two hundred years.

Abrahamic religions date back to about 1800 BCE while Hinduism dates back to 2600 BCE (sometimes it's dated older even). Proto-Indo-European religion is a postulated religion, not practiced today, which is thought to have existed and predated all religions. Anything before this is unknown.

According to the bible, Adam was the first human being, according to the bible Adam and Eve where promised a saviour in Genisis 3:15. That would make Adam and Eve the first Christians. That would mean nothing predates Christianity.

Christianity is not a Religion, Christ is God dieing for our sins in human form, one either believes this or rejects this.

One doesn't have to do anything but believe it and accept it. Religion requires a religious adherence to certain practies in order to attain it's promised rewards.

Do you need to practice anythng religiously to be a human being other than to eat breath, rest and stay warm - No, Hence human being and not human doing. Well, we dont have to practise anything religiously to be a Christian one just has to believe that one has sinned and that one needs to be saved and that God made a way for one to be saved. God took care of it all, and He will and does take care of all the rest. Its a wonderful life and it is eternal.
