"Holy War
(Computing) A flame-war on Usenet/BBSes/Forums/IRC/etc. between two or more people that neither party can win. Resembles a war between countries over whose deity is better.
Guy #1: Did you see that holy war between those two guys over which text editor is better?
Guy #2: Yeah, it's like the special olympics, man. Even if you "win", you're still retarded." - Urban Dictionary: Holy War
VI vs. Emacs, PC vs. Mac or "does pineapple belong on a pizza?", holy wars are as old as the internet. We face two "classics" again: gun control and abortion. I debated those 40 years ago on Usenet - with the same "arguments" on both sides. And it doesn't matter how often and how serious you bury them, like zombies they'll rise again.
What are your "favourite" holy wars you can't help but participate in?
Which ones can you leave alone?
Do you have found a solution (for you) how to deal with them?
