So anyone here heard of the site High Scope? Helps teachers learn to be teachers. My college had me go on there to watch a few videos. These videos were free. The membership you get on there is free and there's hundreds of videos free on there that come with the membership. So I go watch the videos that were required? Problem is im autistic. i have an issue with auditory processing. None the videos have subtitles or a transcript for me to read. So I keep having to wind and rewind and rewatch different parts to understand stuff. I decided to let High Scope know about this problem because while I still was able to get part of my classwork done the problem is I don't want to have to keep rewinding and besides there might be HoH or Deaf teachers who'd want to use their resources and people with even worse auditory processing issues then mine so I figured I'd let them know. Want to know what they sent back?

"Thank you for your interest in HighScope! Thank you for reaching out and letting me know I will take that into consideration. We do have DVD’s that we sell on our websites that do contain subtitles/captions. You can find it at our store at www.highscope.org/store I hope this helps. Have a great day"

As much as I hope they fix the issue for disabled teachers and start adding captions to all their videos this seems like an issue that shouldn't be there in the first place. Teachers should know better, most are used to accomadating disabled students and providing things like subtitles and transcripts for kids with ADHD or autism or other learning issues. One the high schools I went to made it mandatory any videos a teacher shows in class has to have subtitles. Why not provide them for disabled teachers you are teaching as well? For them to know to provide them for videos that have to be paid for but not the free videos most everyone gets is wrong. I as a disabled student should not be denied the ability to have the same free education as everyone else that visits that site and am only able to watch videos with captions if I pay for it.

I wouldn't be so mad if it was like one or two free videos on the site to help teachers out. But there are hundreds and some the stuff they have with captions in their store cost over 100 dollars. This is a lot unfair. I don't mind paying for a video set with captions that everyone has to pay for. But to make so much info free to everyone yet the only accessible stuff you have cost money sometimes to that high of an amount just irks me.

I'm surprised. Most on line video players have a captions option built into them. I wonder if you could download their video and then choose to play it with a player on your own computer?

I don't know. I have two more videos I'm supposed to watch for classwork but for some reason I can't log in anymore sites not letting me. So I emailed my teacher about that and awaiting a response.

If any of their videos are on youtube you can turn on captioning. I'm surprised they aren't captioned.

I don't know if they are or not on youtube. I'll see for my classwork. I don't plan on using the site again unless for classwork cuz of how much I hate the lack of captioning

Let's be hopeful. Maybe the site is offline so they can fix the oversight.

According to my teacher they originally had subtitles. How strange. Maybe it was a glitch on my part but if that's the case why didn't the person I emailed earlier say anything? And why didn't it show up on my friend's account either? Either way the professor found two the required videos I have to do elsewhere and said the other two questions about the other two videos the students in her class don't have to do. Welp one less question I have to do(the other video question she said we didn't have to do i already watched).

Wow! You'll have to forgive my surprise here, but I've never met another person who struggles to watch videos! I never knew that had a title. I get so angry when something is in video format only, because I have to do like you, rewind, rewind.... give me a script, I'll have it read in an abnormally short time, comprehended, and the problem fixed. I just can't listen to electronic droning very well. I do okay when people are talking in person, but videos are terrible for me.

I'm not optimistic, because any time you need anything anymore, folks tell you to watch this or that video...
