Horror tv shows for the kids

SOCIAL ISOLATION? IF ANYTHING IT HAS INCREASED OUR INTERACTION WITH NOT JUST OUR FRIENDS BUT THE ENTIRE WORLD (LITERALLY.) IT'S JUST NOT THE SAME TYPE OF INTERACTION, THAT DOESN'T MEAN WE AREN'T TALKING TO ONE AND OTHER. YOU AND I ARE HAVING A CONVERSION/DISCUSSION RIGHT NOW, IN FACT, WITHOUT SEEING EACH OTHER. THE ONLY THING THAT IS DIFFERENT IS WE HAVE TO FOLLOW WRITTEN ENGLISH RULES AS OPPOSED TO THE MORE RELAXED SPOKEN VERSION (THINGS LIKE SARCASM, TONE OF SPEECH ETC ARE JUST HARDER TO CONVEY IS ALL.) KIDS ACTUALLY HAVE MORE FLEXIBILITY WITH REGARDS TO THE RULES, BECAUSE THEY HAVE COLLECTIVELY CREATED A VERY SPECIFIC TYPE OF SPEECH PATTERN CALLED "TEXT SPEAK." (REGARDLESS OF THE PRESCRIPTIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER'S RUMBLINGS.)
THE INTERNET HAS ACTUALLY INCREASED THE AMOUNT AND SPEED OF CHANGE TO THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, FOR BETTER OR WORSE.

I understand what you are saying but I continue to disagree. Not meeting people in real life and truly talking to each other is a lost art form these days. There is something to be said for true interaction Some. I don't care for 'text speak' and in fact, don't have a smart phone or even a cell phone. I don't like them. My biggest problem is that today, schools are requiring that kids have a laptop or tablet to start school as young as 5. What of those parents who cannot afford them? And there are plenty of those these days. What of those kids? They are left to be stigmatized for life and bullied as being 'poor'. That is just wrong and another reason for kids to be mean. As someone who endured being bullied in high school, I can tell you it leaves an indelible mark forever.

TEENAGERS WILL JUST CUT THEMSELVES OFF INTO THEIR OWN LITTLE CLIQUES IS ALL. THEY'VE ALWAYS DONE THAT. AND I QUESTION JUST HOW HEALTHY SOCIAL INTERACTION WAS BACK BEFORE TECHNOLOGY. OR IF APATHY EXPRESSED BY THE YOUTH WAS NEVER THERE BEFORE TECHNOLOGY. AT LEAST IF LITERATURE WRITTEN BY YOUNG PEOPLE FROM PREVIOUS GENERATIONS IS ANY INDICATION. *COUGH* THE OUTSIDERS BY S. E. HINTON *COUGH*
OR MY FATHER'S RECOLLECTION OF HIS DEPRESSION ERA CHILDHOOD, FOR EXAMPLE.

TECHNOLOGY HAS hysi caOPENED UP A WORLD OF LITERATURE FOR ME. BOOKTUBE HAS GIVEN ME SOME YA TITLES TO READ. SOME BOOKTUBERS HAVE GIVEN ME EXTENSIVE LISTS OF CLASSICS I HAVE NOT HEARD OF BECAUSE THEY ARE FOREIGN. GOODREADS HELPS ME DECIDE WHAT BOOKS I MIGHT BUY OR PIQUES MY CURIOSITY IN SOME CLASSICS DUE TO CONTROVERSY OR DEBATES (IE CHAUCER'S CANTERBURY TALES.) TV SHOWS SPARKED AN INTEREST IN FAIRY TALES, FROM SAMSALA GRIMM TEACHING YOUNG ME ABOUT PERSPECTIVE AND DIFFERENT ROLES IN STORIES, TO THE FAIRYTALER GIVING ME HCA TALES I DIDN'T OWN OR KNOW ABOUT. EVEN WISHBONE ENCOURAGED ME TO PICK UP CLASSICS.

I JUST DON'T SEE WHY TECHNOLOGY HAS TO BE THE BIG BAD WOLF IN TODAY'S YOUTHFUL ALOOFNESS. IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THERE. THE OLDER GENERATION JUST LIKES TO LAMENT ABOUT THE STATE OF YOUTH AND HOW "THINGS WERE BETTER BACK IN MY DAY." I'VE EVEN SEEN 90'S KIDS AND SOME EARLY MELLENIALS SAY THINGS LIKE THAT!!

There is nothing here I can disagree with. Yes, literature will always be a reflection of the times in which it was written. Never read The Outsiders" nor seen the movie. But I get your gist here. Still, If you look at the obesity we have today in children, it is a reflection of the 'couch potato gamer" motif. When I was a child, we had to go outside to play, and hence got a lot of well needed physical activity. There was no fast food or soda. I recall the very first time my parents took me to the newly opened McDonalds. Hell, we didn't even have a TV. But we had chores to do like collecting the eggs or milking and if you asked a kid today how to milk a cow they would not know what end to look for. I don't like digital books but owing to my eyesight, I am resigned to audio books these days. And I love them btw. I still continue to believe that technology has some serious downsides and even wrote a long essay on the detriments of technology in the healthcare arena for a graduate class. And trust me, there are many. Also, there are myriad studies on the effects of constant texting and gaming out there. Most pointing out the downsides. You will never convince me that technology is a boon for kids.

I have all of those and many many more. Some are very oversized books which I adore such as The Egyptian Book of The Dead and Homer's books, Dante's and Milton's. I also have all of the Dune books, the entire Tolkien collection and a bunch more you would love. I am not a big fan of Bronte or Austin and I absolutely hate Faulkner but I have them. You might try The Eastern Press for the books you are interested in. That's where I got some of mine.

ALAS, THE NEAREST EASTERN PRESS IS IN ANOTHER STATE ENTIRELY. OH, THOSE SOUND AWESOME! I HAVE TWO VERSION'S OF HOMER'S ODYSSEY, I HOPE I FIND MORE.
NEVER READ FAULKNER, I ONLY KNOW HIM BECAUSE OF THE FEUD HE HAD WITH HEMINGWAY, WHO I OWN BUT HAVEN'T READ YET.

EHH, I ACTUALLY PREFER ONLINE. BECAUSE I HAVE SEVERAL SPEECH ISSUES, I SLUR MY WORDS, I CANNOT OFTEN EXPRESS MYSELF VERBALLY BECAUSE I SOMETIMES FORGET WHAT I'M SAYING, I HAVE A MILD STUTTER AND I CANNOT PRONOUNCE CERTAIN WORDS AND LETTERS (R FOR EXAMPLE. WHICH MAKES SPEAKING HINDI, WHICH IS TECHNICALLY MY MOTHER TONGUE, A NIGHTMARE SINCE YOU HAVE TO ROLL YOUR "RS" SO I DON'T EVEN TRY) AS SUCH I AM MUCH BETTER EXPRESSING MY THOUGHTS THROUGH THE WRITTEN WORD, BECAUSE I CAN USE MY FULL VOCABULARY. SO THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE THROUGH THE WRITTEN WORD AND ONLY THE WRITTEN WORD IN MANY SITUATIONS IS LITERALLY A GODSEND FOR ME AND HAS ACTUALLY ALLOWED ME TO HAVE A VOICE. IT ALSO ALLOWS ME TO OVERCOME MY NATURAL SHYNESS AND MY RETICENCE FOR SPEAKING MY MIND. YOU CAN SPEAK ILL OF TECHNOLOGY ALL YOU LIKE, MY FRIEND, FOR ME IT HAS TRULY DONE MORE THAN I COULD EVER THANK IT FOR.

AND FOR ME, AT LEAST, THE TRUE ART OF CONVERSATION (VERBAL) ONLY REALLY IMPRESSES ME IF IT'S FROM THE 19TH CENTURY AND FURTHER BACK. OR AN INTERVIEW WITH A PARTICULARLY ERUDITE OR SKILLED ENGLISH SPEAKER. I MEAN LIKE WILDE, SHAKES, TOLKIEN INTERVIEWS, INTERVIEWS WITH ORWELL OR INTERVIEWS WITH NABOKOV OR OTHERS LIKE THEM. NOW THERE IS YOUR ART OF CONVERSATION.

I AGREE THAT REQUIRING PARENTS TO PURCHASE TABLETS FOR THEIR CHILDREN IN ORDER FOR SCHOOL IS BEYOND UNACCEPTABLE. THAT SORT OF THING OUGHT TO BE COVERED BY THE SCHOOL ITSELF, EVEN IF IT'S "OUT OF DATE." WE ALWAYS HAD COMPUTERS SUPPLIED BY MY CRUMMY PUBLIC PRIMARY AND HIGH SCHOOL.
ALSO FUN FACT IN MANY RURAL AREAS OF AUSTRALIA, CHILDREN LITERALLY ATTEND VIRTUAL SCHOOL, USUALLY THOUGH PROGRAMS SUCH AS SKYPE, BECAUSE THEY LIVE TOO FAR AWAY FROM.......WELL ANYTHING TO ATTEND PHYSICALLY.

HAD TO READ AND WATCH OUTSIDERS FOR YEAR 9 ENGLISH AND ADORED IT. IT WAS WRITTEN DURING THE 50S AND FOLLOWS A YOUNG TEENAGE "GREASER" BY THE NAME OF PONYBOY AND BASICALLY HIS TURMOILS AND TRIUMPHS. IT EXPLORES THEMES OF MATURITY, LOYALTY, FRIENDSHIP, STEREOTYPES AND GRIEF. IT'S NOT THE BEST WRITTEN BOOK (THE AUTHOR HERSELF WAS ONLY 16 AT THE TIME) BUT IT'S HONEST. IT'S GRITTY AND IT DOESN'T ALWAYS END UP HAPPY BUT IT STRUCK A CORD WITH ME.

I'D ARGUE THAT THE EPIDEMIC OF OBESITY IS NOT TO BE BLAMED ON TECHNOLOGY ENTIRELY, BUT ON HELICOPTER PARENTS PREFERRING THEIR KIDS TO BE ON TECHNOLOGY. I MEAN MY MUM ALLOWED ME CERTAIN TV, GAMES AND COMPUTER TIMES TO BE SURE. BUT SHE KICKED ME OUTSIDE AND MY FRIENDS AND I DID NORMAL KID THINGS. WELL, NORMAL FOR QUEENSLAND KIDS ANYWAY. BIKE RIDING, "CANE TOAD HUNTING" CLIMBING, SWIMMING, BREAKING BONES, RUNNING AROUND ETC. IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE AN EITHER OR DEAL. MY PARENTS WERE RATHER A BIT MORE OVERPROTECTIVE THAN OTHER PARENTS AROUND ME WERE, BUT THEN AGAIN MY STREET HAD KNOWN DRUG DEALERS SO....BUT EVEN STILL IT'S NOT LIKE I WAS LOCKED IN MY ROOM 24/7 PLAYING ON THE N64 OR PS1. I MEAN THAT WAS FUN TO DO ON RAINY DAYS OR AT NIGHT OR WITH A FRIEND FOR A WHILE. BUT IT'S NOT LIKE WE MISSED OUT ON A "PROPER CHILDHOOD."
TODAY'S PARENTS WORRY ABOUT THEIR KID GOING TO THE FREAKING MAIL BOX. I'M ALL FOR KEEPING KIDS SAFE AND LORD KNOWS THERE'S ALL KINDS OF SICKOS OUT THERE, BUT GEEZ, EVEN SUPER STRICT ASIAN PARENTS ARE JUST LIKE "WHOA WHITEY, CHILL THE **** OUT AND LET THE KID ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING."
YOU KNOW?
