Houston mega church shooting: Uvalde 2.0

For those who haven't watched the video footage.
Here is, once again, a mass shooting that went on much longer than it should have...because cops feared for their lives. There were 3 cops inside the church when the shooting started. All three chose to cower in corners and do nothing. In the video you can hear one cop lie and say he was "pinned" down and another praying for herself. There is even a part in the video where one cop, the one who lied about being pinned down, had a clear shot of the shooter as the shooter put the rifle down and was bent over, yet the cop did nothing. It was armed private security guards that confronted and stopped the shooter. It was the armed private security guards who took control and issued all the commands. It was the armed private security guards who the cops hid behind after the shooter was stopped.

This was Uvalde 2.0. This is what it looks like when cops say "I feared for my life", "Officer safety", "Our first priority is to make it home everyday", "I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6." Cops are trained and brainwashed on day one at the academy to NEVER sacrifice themselves or their fellow cops for anyone. Supreme Court has ruled more than once that public safety is not their responsibility. This same situation even happened at Parkland high school. You cannot rely, or even expect, cops to protect you or keep you safe. We can only protect ourselves and each other. Because cops...will not. Cops are cowards.

This is bad but not all police officers are like that. Saying cops will not protect us or are cowards are blanket statements that are false. The reality is we need to be able to protect ourselves because the police cannot be everywhere and as you have pointed out not all will protect you.

Cops will not protect you and are cowards is a TRUE blanket statement. It is engrained into them at the academy that their safety and the safety of their fellow cops is top priority.

And then there are the do-not-chase laws that bind the hands of many departments because they're not allowed to pursue suspects -- an innocent citizen might get hurt. Pure and simple -- many personality types have no business graduating from the academy. Good Cops DO exist. And they DO protect. There's just not enough of them.

Ok, there are countless examples of police officers protecting people. But you seem to have a beef with all police clouding your reasoning.
Cops are not trained to risk their lives to protect citizens. I don't have a "beef" with them, they have a "beef" with citizens. They are trained and brainwashed to see and treat all of us, including you, as an enemy that is out to hurt them.

(Just so you know, I was 11 years in the Army Military Police. I went through the academy, worked and trained countless of hours with cops, deputies, troopers, sheriff, SWAT from my entire state. I shared barracks with them and had the unfortunate privilege of listening to them tell stories that they would never tell their families.)

And even after all that, you're calling them cowards? (Just going by what you concluded in your OP). I sure hope I'm misunderstanding what you mean here.

Fun fact: The Fraternal Order of Police already found away around the "do not chase" laws. They are trained not to use the words "chase" over the radio, they now use the phrase "catch up". Departments will now say, for example, "I'm attempting to catch up to the vehicle to conduct my stop."

So they will still chase cars, they just won't say that's what they are doing. And it works in court. "I wasn't chasing the suspect, I was trying to catch up to him."

COPS ARE COWARDS.
Was that the result of your training of them? Or are you just throwing them under the bus for some reason?
Also, since you said, "I was 11 years in the Army Military Police", are you including yourself in your assessment of cops in general?

But your claims are objectively false. You can find many stories of police officers protecting people and sacrificing for them. You claimed this never happens.

I agree absolutely.

Heres something that happened in my town 10 years ago:

One of the things that stood out for me about this incidenant was the way that the police responded.

Bear in mind this is a small college town. Up until all this happened The worst that most of the cops here ever had to deal with were a few drunken frat boys getting rowdy or homeless people urinating on the sidewalk.

You wouldn't think that they would have been prepared to get into an actual firefight with a known killer, but that's exactly what happened, and their actions led to the perpetrator crashing his vehicle and (reportedly) turning his gun on himself.
