Why are you avoiding my question?

Where do you wanna settle thé palastinians and them not having a refugee status would imply that they would become a citizen of a state? Which state?
Well we could start with Jordan, where 4th generation "refugees" still live in refugee camps. And that's a big percentage of all the "refugees".

Next, we could change the status of the almost two million "refugees" who live in Gaza.

As a woman, the thing that stood out to me is that only MALE descendants of refugees are given the same status, NOT FEMALES.
can you say more about this, i'm missing some context or details.. thanks

If a person is a stateless and is considered to be a refugee. In order for that person to abandoned the refugee status its has to obtain a other status.

If there is no Palestinian state to what status you wanna change it too. You cannot just remove the refugee label and say well there are now fewer refugees

It’s sounds to me you want to get the refugee label off of them in order to make the ethnic cleansing disappear . If there are no refugees then the ‘refugees ‘ have no right of compensation. And if they don’t have that right then they have bo right to a Palestinian state

For the last 75 years Palestinians have been offered numerous two state solutions and they have all been rejected.

In 2005 Israel gave Gaza to the Palestinians, and they could have created a flourishing state there. Instead, they built a war machine.

Do you think the Palestinians really want a two state solution?

As noted in polls cited in an earlier thread around 40% of Palestinians want a 2 state solution while only 30% of the Israeli Jews want it.

That’s a bit shameful thing to say. It’s like saying the indigenous people of Palastine should accept what is offered to them.

They gave gaza to the Palestinians? What very nice of the Zionist to give back what wasn’t their in the first place.

If that was the Zionist plan, a flourishing state for the Palestinians. Why not a 2 state solution? Or was it because they wanted to keep the West Bank?
Do you think the Palestinians really want a two state solution?
I assume some are and some not.

And that’s why Hamas was a asset for Israel whereas the PA isn’t. That’s why the Zionist send suitcases full of money to Hamas for decades. Supported them tactically to make sure the Palestinians are divided.

Recently @oldbadger asked how we could end the conflict in Israel and Gaza?

Here's an interesting take:

- Eliminate UNRWA, since it's really not doing what it was supposed to be doing.
- Provide aid ONLY for those Palestinians who relinquish their refugee status and declare they will not pursue a "right of return".

As a bit of history, Palestinians have now claimed to be "refugees" for 75 years! Across the globe, 10s of millions of refugees from other conflicts have moved to a new home and dropped their refugee status. Why not the Palestinians? Well, UNRWA has been using its funds to help keep the violent "right of return" dream alive.

Aye, the secret to peace is to greatly increase Palestinian deaths.
They're only Arabs/Muslims.
It couldn't possibly inspire even more violence.
So stupid...& inhumane.

I'd be interested to hear your ideas on how those living in Gaza should be expected to pack up and move.

Not what's being suggested. What's being suggested is that they lose their "refugee" status, nothing more. And of course aid should still come, but it should be used to rebuild, and make hospitals and schools that don't teach hate. So we can no longer let terrorist organizations decide how aid money should be spent, and if a person is not a "refugee" that means that they are "at home" and not bent on a violent "return" to a place their grandparents didn't even live in.

This is like arguing that we should remove the "Jewish" status from Jews, because that would mean that they wouldn't have an ancestral homeland to return to, thus solving conflict in the middle East. How is it any different and any less monstrous?

The way you remove people's status of being refugees is you end the conflict that they are fleeing and allow them to return home. You don't force them to settle elsewhere with a removal of their rights.

The suggestion here is to treat Palestinian "refugees" the same way we've treated all the other 10s of millions of refugees for the last hundred years. Were they are treated monstrously?

Stop putting quotation marks around that word. That is literally what they are.

You're suggesting we ignore the current state of Palestine, or the desire of refugees, and remove their legal status as refugees in order to deny them the ability to return to the place they want to live.

Please tell me exactly when that has been done before.

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.

I believe they want to stay in what they consider to be Palestine. And the Jewish people do not want them there.

There's a lot of assumptions in that post. There are lots of Israelis who support Palestinian right to return. And even if there weren't, why should it matter what citizens of another state get to determine where other people live? This is an ethno-nationalist argument.

I did not say it matters one way or the other.

Also, I am speaking very generally.
